This may be “career” suicide, but I am done. The current state of Youtube is unacceptable and I cannot in good conscience continue there. The website has always had it’s issues:
There was the ditching of the stars back in 2009, putting ads on everything around the same time, Cosmic Panda in 2011 that wasn’t as bad as OneChannel in 2013.... Then Google Plus, the 2016 adpocalypse. In 2018 they changed the rules for who can make money on the website (big channels only), and now the worst of all; censorship.
I am not a political channel, and have been very adamant from the beginning that I would never become one. However this issue transcends the subject matter and enters into a whole new realm of dystopia. For the first time ever, Youtube is actively telling us what we can and cannot make videos about.
In a recent blog post they claimed they would ban people for making videos talking about alleged election fraud in the 2020 election, and remove their content. The last time I checked, Youtube was an open forum and not an editorial collumn. Right now it’s politics, but next it could very well be music/game discussion or any topic that is considered to be not of mainstream thought. Along with the suppression of my content and Youtube’s insistence on ignoring the basic concerns of content creators big and small, they have put the final nail in their coffin.
Aside from a video explaining this statement, I will not make anymore content on Youtube. I will try to upload to Bitchute for all future videos. I will also be experimenting with Rumble and other video mediums. As I said above, I cannot in good conscience continue to use a service that is perpetuating mass censorship and policing of public opinion.
Thank you, Keep Calm, and Rock On.
