I have made several posts to address this topic before, but I think some of you refused to take that serious because it was posted as a reaction to things happening in the anti sterek tags. But I stand by that opinion; you don't post hate, and you don't slander.

There is a limit for me personally when it comes to the question where to engage and to call out people on their behavior, I ususally only do that when I am under attack, either as a an individual or as a part of the crowd I belong to. Just as you won't jump to just anyone's defense on the internet, I won't either - but that does not mean that I approve of any kind of hate that is posted.

What I find absolutely disgusting and cowardly, is anon hate, and I will admit that I was positively surprised by the fact that up to this day, I have not received any kind of anon hate. But I think that it has also to do with the fact that I try to stay as polite and factual as possible, and that most people in the anti and lol sterek tags acknowledge that fact.

As for the Westboro Baptist Church comparison that I made in an exchange I had with lilliaeth:

"You mean like the way you worship your sterek…"

"Like the Jehova’s witnesses, pushing your faith on people whether they want to hear about it or not."

Now I admit that I’m not a spiritual person, so I actually never thought of the stereks as Jehova’s witnesses. It was more like, hippie culture of the seventies? Something most definitely not to everyone’s tastes, but fundamentally okay. But I really can’t come up with an analogy for the antis. You’re like, the very conservative Christian youth organization spreading hate, and reaping hate in return? Which then makes you even stronger in your believes?  The names may vary, the mechanics don’t.

So, first of all, we were already in a context of comparisons to spirituality/religion

In this context, liliaeth referred to Jehova's Wittnesses (a comparison that I find really offensive too, especially since I am an atheist), and accused us of trying to force our believes on people

to which I replied with a rhetorical question, asking whether the antis were the Westboro Baptist church, who are widely known as a hate group.

I then repeated the same comparison only without the specific name, and admitted (albeit not really as an admission of guilt, more as a statement: my analogies suck, but I'm not really sorry).

So, yes, I made that comparison. If you find that triggering, that is your problem, just as finding the Jehovah's Witnesses comparison really offensive was mine.  But I didn't complain about that one, nor would I, because it happened in a context that a)generally used these kind of analogies and b)was part of a give-take exchange, also commonly known as (un)friendly banter.

Oh man, I could be here all night listing my favorites (:  midnightstorm6593 has an awesome fic rec list that you can find here, I love basically everything on there.

In terms of fics not on that list, for Kennett I love Take Care and pretty much anything from midnightstorm6593 herself.  For Bamon, I would add The Curious Case of Bonnie Bennett (in progress), We’re Not Friends, When Life Gives you Lemons, Be a Bird, and Cat & Mouse.  Also, if you’re down with a Jeremy/Bonnie/Tyler OT3, definitely check out Stake the Salvatores and its follow-up Kill Klaus (in progress).  I’m sure I’m missing some.  Hmmm.

And I have a few Bamon and Kennett fics myself (username gitan312), though I can’t make any promises that they’re as good as the above.

But since when did Bonnie know everything? Last I checked, Damon told her that she gets left out of important conversations. So, that means she has no idea that he’s behind that council’s murder because no one bothered to tell her (and how incredibly stupid of them that was). And how much do you want to bet that neither Stefan nor Damon mention this “expression” thing to her or Elena? It’s going to end up being one big clusterfuck of miscommunication in which Bonnie will get screwed over because as far as Bonnie knows, Shane is just a friend of her grandmother’s that’s teaching her how to get her magic to work again and she’s happy that she is getting her magic to work again.

I agree with all the above. And I find it surreal and stupid that those people don't talk to each other.

But what I was saying is not why Bonnie trusts Shane now. Obviously he has convinced her to do so. What I pointed out is that when she sat willingly to be hypnotized (and I did mention that actually she didn't believe in hypnotism so maybe that was why) she didn't know that guy at all!

Now she sees him as a friend yes. But back then even if he knew her grandmother he was a complete stranger to her. And yet she gave him full access at her mind.
