Here's my video, the first skate scene was shot on my GoPro Hero 3, the rest on my iphone 6, so really I could have left my Canon SL1, Rode Mic, batteries, memory cards and gopro at home, I really didn't need them.
I'd like to consider myself an amateur not an idiot, but the latter would probably apply in the situation where you check out your footage on the computer, and  to your surprise you have none, or maybe you accidently deleted it. What the FUCK happened!  AAAggghhhhhhhh. Maybe I should just be that friend who comes back from vacation with 150 pictures on their phone and asks you to take a look at all of them because, well I'm feeling lazy. But video can be so awesome,  the aspiring director in me keeps saying:  tell a great story! A picture is worth a 1000 words but nothing beats the creativity, storytelling and the reality video can bring to your audience!
Usually when something doesn't go right its a result of a couple of things, in my case my GoProApp wasn't working so I couldn't see what was being filmed and I couldn't tell if the camera was on without the sound cue which is challenging when you have loud music playing and the head mount doesn't do skating any justice on video, and looks very uncool  mind you. My GoPro footage did a better job capturing the buildings and the night sky than it did the inline skating action. One gentlemen in the pack had the right idea using one of those goPro extendable poles, which captures some great angles. I ended up shooting alot of video on my Iphone. Before the skate finished, over 2 hours later my iphone froze. But it wasn't until the next morning that I realized that half of my GoPro footage never recorded, maybe it was for the better, I mean editing 3 hours of footage into a two minute video is painful but necessary, and besides the GoPro footage sucked to begin with. I decided I would forget any video, save the hassle and enjoy the week without feeling the urge to have to capture every interesting moment on video. Trips are one exception where writing about them is sometimes necessary or even better, but I'll let you be the judge, I’ve got 7 blog posts from my recent trip I’ll be sharing.
