commonly known as the age of transformation & enlightenment because the level of the artistic design of the statues and paintings rose to a higher level that didn't exist in the old Kingdom which was achieved by Mentuhotep II who united the country once again and established a capital in Thebes and ushered the middle kingdom to the world. many changes took place like the change of the capital from Thebes to lisht near fayoum in the 12th dynasty by Amenemhat I. Although united again, Egypt did not achieve the heights of power that produced the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom. Many sculptures were made in gold & silver and many works of literature preserved all the scientific and mathematical discoveries of that time plus many religious beliefs like the concept of Maat and Osiris which became the most prominent belief system during this period
The huge impressive #forbiddencity palace, officially the #palacemuseum. Like everything in #Beijing it was grand, massive, designed to impress you with its sheer scale. Or rather everything else in Beijing is designed taking a leaf out of the opulent Ming and Qing emperors. I mean, there are more than 8000 rooms in the palace! Just skirting it took me more than an hour so I skipped going past the #meridiangate and into the actual palace because I was pressed for time. But standing before this #majestic structure was an experience in itself. PS: It was called the Forbidden City because the common people were forbidden to come near it.
