OWLTIAN MIA - The Greatest Games Ever Played 2x7" (Tree Records, 1996) I had a really hard time figuring out which record to start this blog off with, but I ended up with OWLTIAN MIA. Dissonant and noisy emotive hardcore, but with uplifting melodies and driving basslines, all paired up with shouted and screamed vocals. Two 7", where they last song is over both sides of the last 7". Being released in 1996, I personally feel that OWLTIAN MIA took the experimentation of CONSTANTINE SANKATHI and CLIKATAT IKATOWI, and the epic hardcore done by bands like STILL LIFE and (early) CERBERUS SHOAL, as well as influenced by slow core bands such as SLOWDIVE and CODEINE.
