Geiger- Muller counter vs scintillation counter. A GEIGER COUNTER (Geiger-Muller tube) is a device used for the detection and measurement of all types of radiation: alpha, beta and gamma radiation. Basically it consists of a pair of electrodes surrounded by a gas. The electrodes have a high voltage across them. The gas used is usually Helium or Argon. SCINTILLATION COUNTER, radiation detector that is triggered by a flash of light (or scintillation) produced when ionizing radiation traverses certain solid or liquid substances (phosphors), among which are thallium-activated sodium iodide, zinc sulfide, and organic compounds such as anthracene incorporated into solid plastics or liquid solvents. 👉 Follow @microscopia.iwm 👉 Follow @microscopia.iwm 👉 Follow @microscopia.iwm #microscopiaiwm #microbiologist #biotechnology #biotechnologist #bioinstrumentation #radiation #photomultiplier #biology #sceintist #science #radioactive #radioactivity #biophysics (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMlaf3NjA6P/?igshid=1338a3cdc6jeo
