In the Happy!AU, where Microphonemy is a thing, Mike also has a love/sexual affair with Fritz.
The thing is, while the 3 of them love each other and are happy together, Mike respects Scott and Jeremy’s relation because they’ve been in love with each other for way longer than they’ve known him. That’s why he gives them time alone and hasn’t considered moving in with them.
So while he leaves Scott and Jeremy alone as a couple, he has his little adventures with Fritz.
Scott and Jeremy are aware of this, and they don’t really mind (although Scott appreciates if Mike doesn’t bring Fritz along or talks about him, ‘cause he doesn’t like Fritz).
Actually Mike is a bit of a slut. He’s that kind of guy that if they go to the beach together, he’s gonna wander off anyway to flirt with some ladies.

Yes it takes place between ‘87 and ‘89, and they’re not open about it, of course.
They don’t hold hands, they don’t kiss in public. Sometimes they pass an arm around the other’s shoulders, but it doesn’t last long, and they try to make it more playful than affectionate.
Their coworkers don’t know they’re dating, and at work they keep a more professional, boss-subordinates-coworkers relation.
PG and Jeremy live together, but as housemates, not as a couple.
They’re only affectionate towards each other when they’re alone or in private.
Now, this particular picture for example is meant to be nothing but a joke, since that song didn’t even exist at that time.
I feel like I need to mention this also, but Jeremy’s moms aren’t open about their relationship either. To the rest of the world they’re best friends that have lived together for a long time, and J’s Mama has helped his Mom raise Jeremy since her bf left her.
