Hi all. Just a small update: I'm currently dying of a stomach bug on top of one of the worst weeks (emotionally). I've been trying to work on part 6 of Buff Guy x Reader, but it's been rough. So, I'm going to postpone part 6 for this week while I try to recover and not think about killing myself.

I'm sorry for the radio silence in the past few days, let's say the period is not the best. But I come with a good news: yesterday, way ahead of schedule, I started writing the first chapter of The King's Hound and although there are only roughly 350 words written as of now I am very happy about this. I know that once I have a start writing will come easier and I can't wait to keep going.
In the next days I will probably answer the asks that have been sitting in my inbox (sorry about that!), if you have prompts or questions for the cast ask away because I have a lot planned.
Lastly, I want to send a hug to all the old and new followers, your appreciation and love literaly keeps this project going❤
Since switching to Renpy, we've been able to get a test version of the gameplay loop to work! (Renpy comes with a built in save system, gallery, and menus. So most of the major roadblocks we were running into have been addressed!)
We've also reformatted 15 of the 28 finished backgrounds to fit Renpy's standardized format.
Next week we'll start programming some test scenes and get more colored base sprites for the characters for testing purposes (here's a sneak peek of some of the students).
Thank you all for your patience as we've been trying to get development off the ground. We're a team of 3 people atm, and starting over from scratch was super scary.
The script is 200 K+ and growing. 3/6 Chapters are drafted and have notes back from our editor. After Chapter 2 is polished, we'll be looking into individual pathways.

Uitto was the last crowned Beauty Rose of the Rosette. From that day on, she swore to never wear floral print unless it was her wedding day. Also been reading a lot of Villainess themed isekais and I just had to draw Uitto in a huge royal gown.
Really happy with how this came out!
We've had some setbacks with the editing of Chapter 1, so we're going to be looking into getting a second set of eyes to look it over before we implement any of it.
Base sprites are coming along well.
Next week, we'll be making a small beta game loop to test old mechanics from the demo (inventory, CG gallery, etc) and how it interacts with the new menu.
I have a feeling it's going to be rough. In the meantime, I'll be channeling any frustration in art and drafting up chapter two.
These fun little sketches are what the sprites look like before they're assembled to have a range of emotion and colored. Each pose gets used for at least 6 expressions. (More if the characters is low energy or an introvert)
Jan Update
1) After getting everything typed up and tallied. The prologue and Ch1 are 70K combined (not including individual pathways). Turns out when we were estimating the length, we weren't considering all the blank spaces that end up on the page since it's in script format
2) Every main character has a sprite base now! We're doing some last minute color palette tests since some characters (like Yoku) had some wardrobe changes to help diversify the silhouettes of the characters.
3) A few rudimentary scenes have been plugged into the alpha, to make sure the fungus scenes work with our new combat scene. After that's working, THEN I'll try futzing with the save system to see if we can get it to work.
It's so strange to me. I'm used to working on stories and such in chronological order. But in order to get all these mechanics to work with each other, we're having to work backwards. In the near future our build steps will be...
A. Implementing the Save/Load system into the alpha
B. Making sure the audio sliders work with both fungus and combat scenes
C. Implementing daily life game loop (and bug testing how that works with the save/load system)
D. Implementing an alpha version of the investigation mechanic (to bug test having an inventory)
E. Seeing if we can get the old pause menu working for the new build (including Inventory space)
F. Plugging in the story
G. Adding visuals (very story board like)
I'm going to be working on the Ch 2 draft on the side while I hear back from editors. I highly doubt we'll be able to get the old demo to work since its operating with a completely different version of unity/fungus/menu. But we are going to take what we learned from that build process and try to make the full version build more smoothly.
