Do you have anything on-hand for the state of Edgar within the nightmare? I have a FEW within the realm of his retained humanity acting the part of a resistor to complete assimilation - something something his juxtaposition to Mensis’s aversion to the church’s bloody methods. But. I am so curious to hear your thoughts on the matter

oh goodness me i basically oc-ified the poor man, anyone who's talked to me about him can attest that

but. hm hmm. for the nightmare specifically. i like thinking that he was sent there *after* the nightmare was already established. i have whole story on how he was previously a really high ranking church member, one of the Big Three of the choir (i.e. rosmarinus) before being sabotaged and sent to work as a spy since he was the strongest (nah. peers were jealous and shipped him off to micolashland)

i would say as well that i think mergo's wet nurse actually favours him, and so do the winter lanterns (although they caused him to deplete his stash of sedatives to his last three, which are the ones you get after killing him). i hc that he sings beautifully, and that his voice actually soothes mergo from crying incessantly along with the wet nurse's cooing. he does have an odd relationship with queen yharnam, she understands that he can't kill the wet nurse and appreciates that she can calm mergo, but she still wishes to yknow. actually give her baby proper peace
