meet me in the afterglow: My first Mickey Webb/Max Carter fic. not really sure what prompted it but it added to my “the real sun hill gossip” series (half intending to write more unexpected couples to add to this even more)

so it goes: I felt, from the above short one shot, that Mickey and Max had some real potential and ended up writing a longer fic about them to try satisfy that part of my brain. They’ve slowly become my favourite ship

i hear(d) you s.o.s: I liked that small moment of Grace checking in on Max at the back end of Balance of Power (26x27), so I expanded on a potential late night conversation between the pair

skin and bones: Max getting clean in 2010, whilst on leave, and going to see his family. Rewatching that storyline always brings out the fanfic writing part of my mind.

All of Human Knowledge is Free: Heaton’s comment in Sins of the Father Part 1 (24x27) about this being a police station now a philosophy class, in response to Sam and Max make me question what they’d be like on a uni course together. Didn’t actually intend for it to become a slash fic instead of an and, but it felt the right path to go down.

we fell in love in october: Early Mickey Webb comparisons to Ultimate Force era Christopher Fox, as a joke about younger Max/Mickey (in relation to so it goes), leading to a joke about Mickey and Louis Hoffman being a good couple. I was going to go more angsty but someone would probably have rioted (cough @astarday cough)

there’s a house by the beach with a dog on the sheets; we’ll build a waterslide as soon as i get home; call and i’ll rush out: I have a few Max Carter fic ideas I haven’t get executed with OCs but for some reason created a new OC. I haven’t established much on Dylan Marshall, but she’s a fun character to write. There wasn’t much inspiration except just listening to the song behind the first fic’s title (I Tried, Daniel Seavey) in an old playlist

we both have a lot of things to say: The way Jack Meadows and Max Carter look at each other through a lot of Game Plan (Mostly Part 2, 24x57) made me think they could have quite the argument afterwards. Plus, slight mentions of Beech, Boulton and Zain

five years, twenty years; come back, we’ll always be the same: More Game Plan related, and I felt Max would have been sad to see Beth go in Leap of Faith Part 2 (25x17)

stuck with u: It’s crossed my mind a few times about what would happen if CID were stuck in a room together, and I spent a while messing about, trying to work it out.

can’t you come stitch me up: Lily Adams was my first The Bill OC, and through re organising my fics/scraps into folders on Ellipsus, I got thinking about how criminally little I had for Lily/Max so ended up writing Max putting his first aid skills back into use whilst his favourite Inspector got a slight break. Ft Max’s older chaotic brother (OC) and v confused CID

QUINNAN: The report of a body at the Bagford Rd Industrial Estate… confirm that there is a body at this location. [pause] It’s DS Boulton.

BEECH: He’s dead, Maggie.

GLAZE: That’s very generous. QUINNAN: Not really. GLAZE: Fifty quid? QUINNAN: It’s guilt, actually. I never liked him.
