Throwback Thursday to this 2012 oil/egg tempera painting “The Listener”. That year my art career was starting to become more abundant, but at the same time, the wife I had those days had a difficult surgery. So I used all my savings to take us to Italy to do a three week workshop with some artist friends @laurence_caruana @amandasageart and @mauraholdenart . Within the students there where also many epic artists who’ve become lifelong friends. The whole experience was very magical and healing. Placing myself in the position of a student was a way to humble my ego and be open to grow in new ways. Though the mische technique wasn’t really something I perused much after, it was fun to do this tribal style self portrait. But from seeing my peers teaching, I learnt how I myself could also teach, especially since they allowed me to do a one day spray painting workshop. That was my first step into a whole new branch of my career as a workshop teacher, which is one of my most fulfilling roles. So I am grateful for that special episode in my life and everyone involved. #torisuperiore #michetechnique #selfportrait #painting #oil #eggtempera #workshop #italy #healing #listening #learningnewthings #growing #throwbackthursday (at Quilmaná, Lima, Peru) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAdJgrrHwJu/?igshid=148j2auz21maf
