It's the 10th anniversary of the Canberra bushfires in January 2003. Former triple j reporter, Michael Turtle, who was a 22 year old cadet at the time, was one of the first reporters on the scene.  He says of the experience

"I would lie in bed and relive the experience, minute by minute, retracing my steps in my mind.  It had been a very intense day for a 22-year-old reporter. Eventually, in a bid to remove this insomnia, I would sit at my computer in the evenings and write out my memories until I was tired enough to sleep."
