I am having some heavy emotions. Well, I've been for quite a while. This comic has abuse in it, specifically child abuse, proceed with caution.

Last time I talked about Kate and Ellison and their lil family~

As you can see, Mike’s my favorite, and my brain works in a sort of linear way, so we’re continuing the MIKE LINE wooohoo

This is about Mike’s childhood, to be more precise, his chilhood « sweetheart », who was really just his punching bag the whole time.

But first, a bit of background - Niklas is a relatively new character, born out of « what-if » scenario, if Mike’s parents hadn’t perished and Mike didn’t have a chance to get out of the situation - maybe he would’ve been more cowardly, or his parents weren’t as shitty, lulling him into a false sense of security. Therefore, he wouldn’t be able to transition, leaving him to live as a woman his most adult life. Of course, the Lange clan is one of very old tradition - and they would’ve quickly settled him with some male heir of buddying family/clan. That’s when Niklas Klassen comes in. A wet towel of a man - although he’s of a kinder and more progressive side than Klassen senior - Nik can cone around as shallow and a bit unstable. As a kid, everyone noticed that he was a very dense, easily-manipulated boy. Constantly babied as “the only heir” by his parents and his two older sisters, he was made to be kind of oblivious - and that’s where his main issues often came from.

And Mike? Often disregarded by his parents - made into a nuisance more than a child. This would make anyone angry and upset with the world - look at me, please! I am here, I am ME!

That’s where the over and under meet - Langes and Klassens have always been in kahoots, and this one was a no-brained - marry the kids, join some businesses, have powerful gifted babies, etc, etc.

Mike would bully the “future” husband relentlessly - just so they would think twice before joining these two.

They would often play together during the dinners between the clans and Mike would just be mean - using the fact that Niklas was never taught to doubt. Go into that dark closet for me. Stick your fingers into that socket. Go play with that (totally friendly) dog! No, it didn’t chase me before, must be the other dog.

so, in the “parents alive” version of events, this doesn’t deter Klassens and these two are married at 18. Ultimately Mike is miserable there, he doesn’t LIKE that guy, but he slowly just accepts this fact. Slowly, with lots of divorce threats, but ultimately he gets used to this. But he leaves his ass anyway xd

In original universe, Mike’s parents die and Mike leaves to live wirh Kate and Ellie, goes to college to become a lawyer, meets his future husband, Briss and plans to sell the house of his parents for good.

Niklas seems to be doing well too. He grows up in the same old house, goes to uni, pursues political career.

He was quite different from his dad, your typical conservative politician who wanted nothing more than for his family and confidants to hold down the line as long as it is physically possible.

Nik is a kind of man that exerts “soft power” , being more moderate and more in touch with younger folk, making buncha campaigns with sorta cringe “how do you do, fellow kids?” 90s ads to boot.

Niklas’s not the worst guy, but more of a “status quo” guy, just a bit more enjoyable than white bread.

But something’s quietly breaking. With his wife, he’s a bit more than a stranger, but she knows stuff’s not good when he comes home to just sit in a dark room for a bit. When he goes for a run in the middle of the night and returns when it’s breakfast. When he suddenly goes quiet, it’s never comfortable silence with him.

He meets Mike one more final time when he and Briss arrived to get some stuff (mostly photos and whatever else Mike would’ve liked) from his parent’s house before selling it. They’ve arrived in the early morning to not be seen.

But Niklas was there , and he notices them. He recognized Mike’s face well. They have very brief conversation, Mike says sorry for the way he behaved as a kid and Nik dips to continue the run. Mike expected more resentment coming his way. But Mike is sorta relieved at least one old chapter out of his book of life is done. For Niklas, it’s less than a book and more like reopening of old wounds. He needs to sit in a dark room about it.

Also I have small fantasy AU where there are half bird half man dragons. Nik and Mike would be bound by a spell, making them magically betrothed, that accidentally makes Nik’s dormant “dragon” genes show up. And Mike runs away as a teen, screwing over Nik as always.

+Nik’s eldest sister. She didn’t kill Mike cus he’s the main character (meta reason lol) and he’s actually of some use to their family (lore reason xd)
