Today you turned one! I haven’t cried yet but feel like I’ve been fighting it all day. Happy tears because I’m so thankful for having you in my life, and sad tears because you’re growing so fast. I’ve always been an an emotional person but you’ve brought me to a new level of feelings. I love you so much. You are my world. My joy. You are the best thing I’ve ever done. When you were born I couldn’t stop saying “he’s perfect, he’s perfect”. It was the only thing I could think of saying. It was the only way I could describe your arrival to the world. You will always be perfect to me. Life will change you and shape you but will never change how I see you. You are overwhelming and beautiful and more then I could ever have imagined. You make me laugh and smile in a ways I didn’t know existed. You are my everything. I see you growing and learning more every day. I’m so excited to share the world with you. And so afraid. The world is not always a kind place. There are terrible things and terrible people. But for now I will teach you about the beauty, the mystery, the bright, and the amazing. Come on this carpet ride with me and I will show you the world. I love you. You lay sleeping right now and all I can think about is all the joy you bring into the world. You shine like a diamond.
