His Final Bow
A/N: So, Ive been consumed by feels with the leaks that came out and although I'm not at all confident regarding my writing abilities, I decided to give it a shot. I'm sorry it's so long, but I hope maaaybe someone will enjoy it. I tried lol. Word Count: 3.4k About: As the final battle approaches, Dabi reminisces about his relationship with you and what's to come. Meant to mainly be from Dabi's POV/flashbacks with some dialogue etc. Warnings: Some bits of smut, bittersweet, rather feelsy and upsetting, mentions of abuse, slight breeding kink
Cerulean eyes roamed your sleeping face in the dimly lit room, taking in every feature as he listened to your soft breathing. With a quiet whine, you began snuggling closer to him, nuzzling your face against his bare chest before releasing a sigh of contentment. A stapled, scarred hand reached up to trace soothing patterns against your spine. He'd never tire of these moments together, forever grateful just to have been able to experience any of this. The day he decided to become a villain, Touya knew better than to expect much positivity in his life, but then you came along and threw him for a loop. He smirked to himself at the memories, in reality it hadn't been all that long ago, but he'd still allow himself to reminisce.
You were there from the very beginning. A passive, but essential part of the League, always doing odd jobs for them when they needed it. Shopping for everything from groceries to medication, stitching them up at their worst, indulging Compress with a shy smile and soft applause at his newest slight of hand. Basically, all the little bullshit that they couldn't or wouldn't do themselves. Hell, after a while, you even helped him dye his hair on a weekly basis. Well before his big reveal deemed it no longer necessary.
Touya recalled your quiet giggling as he bitched about the obnoxious boxed dye smell and couldn't help but chuckle to himself quietly, not wanting to disturb your slumber.
The point is, you were smart, always staying far enough away to never be associated with them directly, carrying on with your seemingly boring life and average job during the day. Yeah, you're nights may have been slightly more questionable, but still nothing worth raising any suspicion over. Who'd expect a vet tech to be the League's nurse and errand girl? No one. Especially not the heroes. You carefully danced the line between civilian and villain and ultimately, that'd be what would keep you safe in the end. A fact that Touya, looking back on everything, was now extremely grateful for.
His thoughts wandered back to those nights when he'd slip into your apartment, claiming to be in need of a root touch up or to get his unreachable staples refreshed, but there was more to it than that. He wouldn't admit it back then, but he had no shame in admitting it now. It was on those nights, when he got to really know you, when the mask came down, when things began to change for you both.
The first few weeks after he'd joined the League, Touya didn't trust anyone, especially considering the rocky start with the boss, but even after he'd settled (as well as one would in a group of murderers,) he still couldn't get a good read on you. You were too nice to them all, even him after a while, shyly asking him if he needed any healing or medicine. Regardless of what his answer was, he made a point to be cold to you. Touya wanted to get a rise out of you, to make you break character and snap at him, maybe tell him what a dick he was or slap him, but it never happened. The most you ever did was raise an eyebrow or just shrug and walk away. No matter how much of a jerk he was, you still treated him the same as you always did... and it bothered the shit out of him.
He'd changed tactics after a while. Figuring out why a seemingly innocent thing like yourself would continuously associate with their unruly group had become a game for him during downtime. He now knew he could at least get a reaction out of you with a flirty comment or even just a smirk from across the room. To say your reactions amused him was an understatement and he'd used that to his advantage. Soon enough he was showing up at your apartment at all hours of the night, tapping at the window by the fire escape with a smug grin.
"Dabi, I'd have left the window open for you if you'd have let me know ahead of time" you'd always mumble, half asleep, but always welcoming him in, never angry, never upset.
"What's the fun in that, doll?" He'd snip, pretending he wasn't slightly annoyed at your never-ending kindness.
Eventually you just started leaving the window unlocked for him and he'd come and go as he pleased. Touya doesn't know exactly when he stopped treating you like a puzzle to figure out or when the two of you had actually become friends of sorts, he just knows he ended up spending more and more time at your apartment instead of at the hideout. Even your crabby, elderly cat had stopped hating him so much and the two of you had fallen into a routine that felt comfortable for you both.
The more time he spent around you, the more Touya noticed things. Like how you never seemed to sleep enough, forever tired and yawning at all hours of the day, yet you were so damned concerned about him and his own sleep habits. More than anything though, he noticed how you never mentioned any family or friends other than himself or the League members. No boyfriends, no lovers, nothing. He didn't question it at first, but eventually he couldn't help himself, his curiosity getting the best of him.
"Tell me, Doll" he began, he was sprawled out on the couch, watching as you tried to find a scary movie for the two of you to watch.
"Hm?"
"Don't ya have a boyfriend or something I should be worried about showing up here one of these days?"
You'd stopped your search to turn and fully meet his gaze, the expression on your face was one that easily resembled a deer caught in headlights. "N-no, You don't have to worry about that."
"Okay, no boyfriends, got it. What about family or chick friends? They ever just pop in?" He'd thought nothing of asking it at the time, but now realized he'd been a bit of an ass for not picking up on your obvious discomfort on the topic.
You'd sighed softly and taken a bit to answer him. This time you didn't look at him at all, simply carding through the stack of old DVDs in your lap for the 5th time "I don't have anything, Dabi. No one's gonna come here, so you're safe, I promise."
Touya understood after that night, you were a misfit, a loner, like the rest of them. Sure, you didn't bloody your hands the way they did, but it'd figure that you'd feel more comfortable with a group of weirdos like them.
One day, he'd accidentally walked in on you getting changed out of your scrubs after work, it made even more sense then. Granted, he was man and he knew you were a looker, but it was genuinely an accident. He'd come by earlier than usual and passed out on the couch, not realizing you'd come home while he was knocked out. When he awoke and heard noises in your bedroom and went to check it out, the last thing he expected was to see you standing by your dresser with your top off.
"Dabi!" You'd yelped, still in your bra, but scrambling to cover up.
He'd frozen at first from being so caught off guard, but just as he was rushing to back out of the room, he noticed them. Welts, faded, but still very visible, littered across your back. A few seemed to wrap down near your hips, but before his glowing blues could take in anymore of your secret shame, you'd managed to pull a shirt on, covering them from his view once again. Based on the shape and pattern, he had to assume they were belt marks and that was what really made it all make sense. Like a final puzzle piece, bringing the full picture into view. At some point, someone you trusted and probably loved, fucked you over. You, who was so stupidly kind and caring, even to a loser like him. You'd been broken, just like the rest of them and it absolutely infuriated him.
His eyes flicked up to your face. You looked like you were on the verge of tears and as pissed as he was, he'd be damned if he was gonna let this dumb mistake fuck up whatever it was you two had going.
"Damn, Doll" he'd mumbled, leaning against the door frame and flashing his signature, cocky grin "I knew you were cute, but I would've never guessed you were hiding those sexy curves under all those clothes." It was kinda cheesy, he knew it, but he hoped it'd be enough to lift the tension in the air, maybe stop you from kicking his ass out.
Your brows raised and your (e/c) eyes widened as they met his, "What?" You gasped, mouth agape in shock and confusion. You stared at him for a few awkward moments before you finally smiled, giggles beginning to slip past your lips before becoming full on laughter. "I'm sorry, Dabi, but that was so lame!" Your anxiety and panic had obviously been forgotten, lost to his sad attempt at being smooth and now he was grinning as he watched you, trying to ignore how his heart seemed to swell at seeing you, genuinely smiling, because of him.
You seemed to become more comfortable around him after that, though you did look at him a bit differently. It wasn't a bad thing, he decided, but it was unique, something more meaningful than before bloomed in your gaze whenever your (e/c) eyes met his.
"Admiring how sexy I am, Kitten?" Touya liked to tease, he'd relish in the way your cheeks would turn crimson and you'd avert your gaze, clamming up with a soft pout.
There was one time, though, you apparently were feeling bold, surprising the flame user with your response. "Maybe I am" you mumbled, worrying your bottom lip between your teeth "Is it so bad that I think you're handsome?"
Him? Handsome? He wondered for a moment, if you were blind and didn't realize he looked like Frankenstein's Monster, but looking into your eyes, he could tell that you were being honest. Now it was his turn to blush, the unscathed skin on his face turning pink and you, smiling smugly. That is, until he crashed his mismatched lips against yours, taking advantage of your surprised gasp to slip his tongue inside your mouth to explore. Your needy moans spurred him on and it wasn't long before he had you beneath him, your legs around his hips as he rutted into your heat until you were limp in his arms and filled with his cum. It was the first time you'd kissed each other, the first time you'd had sex, the first time you admitted you loved him, the first time anyone had learned his real name and the first time he truly realized he loved you... but couldn't bring himself to say it yet.
Eventually you'd tell Touya about your past and the abuse, where the scars came from, how you hated the heroes for never saving you when you needed them. How you'd joined the League looking for a sense of purpose and how they'd grown to be like family to you. How you'd been attracted to him since day one, but figured he was out of your league.
He'd never tell you that it was him that hunted down your abuser and burnt them alive slowly or how he'd been attracted to you for far longer than he let on, that you made him realize that maybe there was still some joy in this fucked up world, even for a villain like him.
Touya always knew he was living a dangerous life that probably wouldn't end well and before you, he honestly didn't give a single fuck. He had goals and things to achieve, things to take care of. You, with your cute laugh and seemingly endless love for him, weren't a part of that plan, but you'd slipped into his heart and made him wish he wasn't in quite as deep as he was. He'd tried looking at it from every angle, spent hours, days trying to figure out a way to change the way it would all end for him, but no matter what he tweaked or how he went about it, he wasn't coming out of this alive and you'd be left alone. He'd contemplated ending the relationship early, to save you the heartbreak, to make you hate him so it wouldn't hurt when he finally didn't come home one night, but, he found that he was selfish and couldn't do it. He wanted to enjoy whatever time he had with you, whether it was a month or a year, he didn't give a shit. He'd take every minute of happiness he could.
It was 5 months ago when an idea hit him. It was your idea actually, but he doubted you'd ever realize it.
He had you bent over the kitchen table as he slammed into you from behind, his hands tight on your hips as you wailed his name and tried pushing back to meet his thrusts.
"P-please Touya, please!"
"Please what, Kitten? Gotta use your words for me" he leaned forward and nipped your shoulder, lapping at the bites afterwards "Tell me exactly what you want, love."
A whine tumbled from your lips "I need you, need your cum. W-want you to fill me up" you'd sobbed "Please, b-breed me!"
He froze, your confession went straight to his dick, making him groan loudly and clench his jaw to keep from cumming right on the spot "My pretty doll wants me to knock her up huh? Want me to fuck you so hard I put a baby in you?"
"Please" you nodded, so eager for him as you wiggled your hips "Please Touya."
That was it, he'd gone absolutely feral on you that night and made a point to initiate sex almost every night since then. He filled you up over and over again, pumping you full of his seed every chance he got. He'd apparently done a pretty damn good job too, because it was only about 4 weeks later when he came home to you holding a whole stack of positive pregnancy tests.
You'd fidgeted nervously, refusing to make eye contact, "A-are you upset?" You'd whispered, barely loud enough for him to hear, but worry was evident in your voice. Your concerns all fluttered away though when Touya wrapped his arms around you, holding you tightly as he kissed the top of your head. He felt your arms slip under his, clinging around his middle, your hands fisting into his jacket. "Not at all, baby" he'd assured you, relief had begun to wash over him. As much as it made his heart ache, he wasn't going to be able to stay with you forever. He knew tensions were building more than ever and it was only a matter of time before war broke out. Touya would most likely die fulfilling his life goal or be taken out by some asshole hero. Now though, you weren't going to be alone. You had his baby inside you, a symbol of the love you shared and a reason to keep going, even if things got bad. It was his last gift to you, he knew you would be a fantastic mother.
"Morning sweetie" your sleepy, soft voice broke Touya out of his thoughts. He watched as you peppered his chest with butterfly kisses. He'd spent almost the whole night watching you sleep and reminiscing.
"Mornin' Doll" he lowered his head to catch your lips in his, savoring the way your fingers ran through his white locks and every second that you were connected. He then slid down your body until he was eye level with your small, but growing, tummy bump. He placed a gentle kiss there, before resting his ear against your belly, listening to his son's steady, healthy heartbeat, "Morning little guy."
You smiled warmly, heart so full as you watched the love of your life interact with your unborn son. You weren't stupid, you knew at any moment, Touya could be taken from you, but you hoped with all your heart, that ny some miracle, it'd never happen. That he'd get to meet his son, watch him grow and be the amazing daddy that you knew he would be. Touya was rough on the outside, but you knew the man on the inside, who was passionate and loved with his whole heart.
Touya's brilliant eyes locked with yours and he grinned, climbing back up to kiss you once again. You spent the whole morning making love and cuddling. Together, you debated baby names and what features from each of you, you thought he'd have, sharing laughs over some goofy selfies you took together and simply enjoying each others company, before Touya had to head out. He told you it was a mission, but you knew it was something more. You saw his unease and felt his stress growing over the last few weeks, you hoped it truly was just another mission, but something in your heart told you otherwise.
That's why, when the time finally came and you walked with him to the door, you cried, holding him tighter than ever and clinging to him like it was the very last time you'd see him. For allyou knew, it was and your heart was breaking.
"C'mon, don't cry" he mumbled softly, wiping the tears from your cheeks even as they continued to flow.
"Can you p-promise me, you'll try to be careful?" you begged, kissing the palm of his hand. You knew it was basically out of his control, but seeing him nod his head with an amused smile, soothed you slightly.
"Of course, anything for you, Doll" he pushed some strands of your (h/c) hair out of your face and kissed you like a man starved. His tongue tracing along every bit of your mouth and biting your lips until they were puffy and swollen. It was his turn to cling to you, to hold you close. "I love you, (y/n)" Touya whispered against the shell of your ear, finally bringing himself to say what he'd been aching to for so long, "I'll always love you."
"I love you too, more than anything" you sobbed against him now, soaking his neck in tears and wet kisses as he held you.
"I've gotta go" he pulled back a few minutes later, staring into your eyes deeply. He didn't want to leave, he wished more than anything to stay with you and his son, but that wasn't an option. He has a long way to go to meet up with others. For once, he was glad home was so far out of the way, you were safer that way. Touya rubbed your belly soothingly, "Watch after your mama, little guy. I love you both" he leaned forward, giving you one last kiss and squeeze, before he headed out for the last time.
Ignoring your anguished sobs from the other side of the closed door, was one of the most difficult things Touya has ever had to do. It took everything in him not to go back in, to comfort you and take just a few more minutes together. He descended the empty stairway slowly, reaching up to wipe the trails of blood dripping from under his eyes. As much as it ached right now, he felt like the luckiest man alive. Someone like him, a villain, a murderer, a misfit... got to experience love and all that comes with it, even if it was for a short period of time.
Touya took a deep breath before exiting the building he'd called home for the past year. He refused to look back, hurrying along to meet with the others, finally ready to take his final bow.
