Before posting about my opinions on the MGSROI flag, I’d like to talk about the concept of MGSROI. You can read about the acronym here.

I don’t mean to invalidate people who identify as MGSROI alone and their efforts, but just like I don’t use SAGA, QUILTBAG, or MOGII often, this is just one more obscure acronym for me.

While the intent of a new acronym that makes people hurt by how MOGAI turned into a term used to mock others is noble, this only will last while it’s relatively obscure.

When people who hate on obscure non-COGAP identities get a hold of the acronym, they will purposely lie about its intent - saying it’s about letting “basically straight” people in the community because they hate gay people, saying it’s about kicking binary trans people out because they somehow think only cis women and nonbinary people that are truly oppressed, and so on - mock people who identify as MGSROI, use the acronym as an insult against anyone who doesn’t want the community to only be about “LGBT full stop”, and other things that are already are done with MOGAI.

So, they’ll either move from acronym to acronym, trying to hold on to a sense of security that is going to evaporate eventually, or they will have a community that will be always completely invisible to everyone but a few, including people who could be their allies, and that will die out relatively quickly.

My take on MGSROI flag

Colour meanings:

rainbow gradient - represent big spectrum of genders and orientations

black and white - represent questioning people and people who do not want to put label on themselves

yellow - represents happiness, creativity and love to life

When there is a definite feeling of a gender, but the gender is too complex to explain, or it feels like its from another world / a gender that doesnt yet exist so you cant explain it. in other words, its void of description.
