They made him a little darker to play Aguilar and also gave him brown contacts. Ā But I mean, there wasnāt sunscreen back in the 1500s and the contacts are an easy way to change up his appearance so itās clear theyāre two differentĀ āpeopleā. Ā
But yeah, itās just not brownface. Ā Spain is and has been historically very diverse (so has Latin America, incidentally, there are blonde haired blue eyed Latins, yāknow, lol), and many people there come from the same European decent and historical tribes that people from France/Germany/Austria/etc hail from. Ā Many Spaniards are white Europeans. Which Michael definitely is, lol.
