Metsona 2024: Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time
This yearโs theme is all about the preservation of fashion history and the fragility of garments but the dress code is based on โThe Garden of Timeโ a short story about the beauty and destruction of a garden. This metsona outfit is based on one of Ann Loweโs wedding dresses (details seen in picture 1 and 3 below the drawing). The dressโs hem and the veilโs hem are burned Robert Wun-style in reference to the destruction of the garden in โThe Garden of Time.โ The veil is in a similar style to Jackie Kennedyโs wedding veil but with lilies embroidered onto it.
Ann Lowe was solidified in history as Jackie Kennedyโs wedding designer but I think she has been slept on as a designer (pun intended). This is obviously a modern update to the dress and is no longer a wedding dress. Iโm not sure who I would have design the dress but I do know I want it to be made of all sustainable materials, either recycled scrap fabrics or through using organic fibers keeping in the theme of garment preservation and my personal love of sustainable fashion.
