Supporting survivors of sexual assault by rocking my Denim for Denim Day. #weremyjeanstootight Did you know that Denim Day is an effort to show support for survivors and raise awareness about sexual assault violence? Denim Day first started in 1999. Inspired, Patti Occhiuzzo Giggans, Executive Director of Peace Over Violence, thought everyone should be wearing jeans to protest all of the myths about why women are raped. The day comes following a high profile Italian rape trial where the survivor was blamed for her rape because of the type of jeans she was wearing. In protest and solidarity, individuals are encouraged to wear denim to combat the idea that rape and sexual violence are the fault or responsibility of survivors. Denim Day is part of a global movement to raise awareness of sexual assault. The kicker is the same doctor that was helping them drug me, was the one who put the medical order to confine me😳 that same doctor USN Jennifer Hague falsified federal documents saying I had no injuries and no medical issues upon there illegal discharge. When I say the Marine Corps is below the gutter on crimes and coverup. The pedophiles that harmed me got full retirements and living life carefree to harm someone in the community. The investigation from NCIS are jokes, they never even interviewed everyone involved because it wasn’t worth there time, and let the remaining retire quietly. meanwhile, I lost my career, healthcare, educational assistance, marriage, any and every entitlement was gone and was homeless. I came home with countless injuries and illnesses visible and invisible. Picked myself up to find more barriers now then before the service. Those opportunities were gone and the unknown fraud in my records plagued my life and family for 20 years. To look back, I wish I was stronger mentally because I would have fought harder the get them all locked away. But what do you do when your world falls apart and your life is upside down in survival mode. YOUR TIMES UP! I carried the shame and hurt for a long time thinking it was just me that experienced this. To find out this has been going on decades with men and women survivors. Read that last sentence again. Each Command has sat back and watched crimes being committed and saying nothing. To the survivors like me “ I’m sorry we were not treated as the victim.” I am sorry you didn’t have a voice and was silenced. I am sorry your career or life was taken at the hands of our abusers. For decades they have studied us on the effects of our traumas and did nothing. Let’s see how effective and how long it will be before it’s implemented. This is bittersweet. Do you sit back and watch the suffering of others? How will you use your voice? I use to be so weak where I couldn’t even watch shows like law and order SVU without being triggered. Through my strong woman healing journey I started 18 years ago, I am now using my trauma and pain from my service and found my purpose. My purpose is to OPEN MY MOUTH and advocate for our babies serving now and providing healing support and wellness education for survivors. As a mother, grandmother, and auntie I vow to keep advocating for meaningful legislation for our children serving and survivors like me. One thing about me, you tell me NO or try to dismiss me and my feelings and goals, I will be more SAVAGE👊🏽 At that point you will not like my choice of words for whoever. I am so tired of y’all being distracted by Guilty sentence of the empire actor but meanwhile peoples children are being sexually assaulted or harassed daily by there boss or bosses boss and who can they report it to?
