“The fact that Star vs the Forces of Evil has continually always undermined its own anti-racism theme has always bugged me. The first villain Toffee, a monster, gets brutally gets killed off and has little to nothing revealed about his backstory and why he caused the fritz, yet Meteroa the more mewman-monster hybrid gets a second chance at life after destroying Butterfly Kingdom and Moon gets forgiven by Star and Mina basically just gets to walk away despite the fact that their actions nearly caused a monster genocide. This even extends to the Magical High Commission.

I’ve been rewatching the episode just to see Globgor because after all this time and build-up we FINALLY get this King of Monsters free and it’s everything I wanted and more! (I did see the previous episodes, I’m just super hyped with this one, just to clear things up.) So I’m just going to say (in random order):

- I like how it was River who defended Globgor from getting crystalized. For a guy who seemed to be against monsters, it was nice to see him sympathise with a monster like Glogbgor who just wanted to protect his family,something River can relate to.

- Janna’s reaction to meeting Globgor is the fandom’s reaction to meeting Globgor.

- Star has grown and matured a lot since the beginning of the series and it shows. Just compare her from this episode to the very first episode and yeah, I love it when character developemnet gets done right.

-The bromance between Tom and Marco is adorable.

- Globgor and Eclipsa are OTP material.

-I like that detail where they show the chicken with the ribbon still tied to it’s beak to show that it wasn’t Eclipsa who released Globgor.

- That stunt Rhombulus pulled...I blame Glossaryk’s bad parenting.

- Oh, how much I dislike the MHC now. Amazing how these guys seem to make things worse. The queen who ran away is now crystalized and the next heir is half monstaer? Let’s screw up the family tree and fabricate Mewnan history! Glogbor has escaped and there’s an arena full of people in panic? Let’s barricade them in against their will for their safety, blame Eclipsa when there is no evidence that she did it and send a teenage girl to retireve this terrifying monster instead of doing this ourselves! Globgor is attacking because he’s witnessing his wife get recrystalized just after being reunited? Globgor is an evil monster and that’s why we’re attacking him in an arena full people who can get hurt in the crossfire! At least Globgor had the decency to apologize. I can’t remember the MHC ever apologizing for anything. Maybe I overdid but I really don’t like these guys now.

-A cheesy happy ending with a pinch of foreshadowing. Man, I can’t wait to see Mina’s reaction to finding out that Globgor is back.
