These photos were taken by Dave Kavaler, a Boston-based photographer.

This first photo plays with symmetry/asymmetry - the pizzas look like they're perfectly symmetric but little details show that they're actually not: the spaces between each board, the shape of each pie. I really like how at first glance everything seems so equal and parallel (I also really like pizza).

In this second photo, the tool used is framing. The subject of the image is the pizza, but the arched brick-lined oven opening and the metal pizza peel on the left hand side lend drama. The photographer could've just zoomed in to the pizza, with the fiery background (or placed it right on the center) but he framed the main image with another powerful object and an accent piece.

This last photo makes use of background/foreground effects. By blurring the foreground (the arched opening that was so prominent in the second picture), and also blurring the last two pizzas in the background, he gives the image more depth and focus.
