So I'm lazing around and playing with my new MetaphOracle deck when it suddenly CALLS ME OUT. Like damn just let me chill, it's Sunday. Okay true I have a lot of stuff to do. Sigh. I think like most writers youāre just going to have to get your stuff out there and see. Most likely some of your books will find more success than others, and thatās okay. If writing is something you love it is worth the effort and calculated risk. Just donāt be like my best friend who is a writer and stuck in a decade plus loop of edit/re-edit and cannot bring herself to publish because it doesnāt feel done yet. Youāve got to know when to call it ādone enoughā and publish. Talk is cheapā¦ and you can write your entire life and never publish a damn thing if you donāt give yourself a kick in the pants on occasionā¦ only action turns profit and brings success. @immortalwave I think the āPut a Sock in itā is two-fold: First, you donāt owe anyone that information. Are you telling people you are Autistic because you feel like you have to tell them? If so, what reason do you have to tell them? Or are you telling them because it would help you for them to know? You get to choose who knows and why it is you tell themā¦ be sure you are using that to your benefit. While itās definitely nothing to be ashamed of or keep a secret, itās also not something you owe anyone telling them about. Second, for those you do choose to tell, if they are negative about it do not listen or take it to heart. Thereās nothing wrong or bad about your newly realized mental health condition. You are okay. If they want to be negative they need to educate themselves (not your job to teach them) and examine why they are reacting negatively (itās not your job to counsel them through that process). So basically, tell the haters to put a damn sock in it!
Sometimes people react negatively because they feel badly or uncomfortable and are not sure how to helpā¦ even though they want to. Understanding this may also help you not take the less positive initial reactions to heart. However, if someone continues to be negative after some processing time, you might consider cutting ties and finding someone more supportive to take their place. Seriously so easy and intuitive a kid could use it (but donāt be mistaken, it has deep lessons for even the older and more serious diviner)! My kids have been having fun drawing a card a day and talking about what the card means to themā¦ I have taught them about a bunch of colloquialisms, and they have taught me more about the world through their eyes.
