妻のiPod復帰か
きのう映画館の帰りに妻とタワーレコードに寄ったら、妻がなかなか試聴機から離れなくて、ぼくのほうが手持ち無沙汰になるという不測の事態に陥ってしまった。ぼくのほうはただ癖のように立ち寄ったまでで、すぐに帰途につくはずだったのが、タワレコでの滞在時間が想定外に長くなってしまったのだ。
何をそんなに熱心に聴いているのかと思ったら、Coldplayの新譜やweezerやクラブ・ミュージックのレコメンド。ぼくと結婚したせいで自発的に音楽を聴く習慣を根こそぎ奪われたかに見える妻は、突発的に、囚われたように音楽を欲することがある。去年か一昨年はその発作でか、Sigur Rosの"Inni"を買った。
きょう帰り道の電車でAmazonを見て、妻にColdplayのCDを買った。自分には最近リイシューされたDon Ellisのアルバム。なんとも素晴らしいHey Judeのカバーが入ったジャズ・オーケストラ作品だ。
帰ったら妻が音楽を聴きたいというので、妻のセレクトでCDを流すことにした。metalmouseの"boscage"というアルバム。
ふたりで今はもう故人になってしまったレイ・ハラカミにはまったり、UnderworldのTwo Months Offを口真似したり、エレクトロニカ系の音楽ばかり聴いていたこともあったと懐かしみつつ。郷愁に満ちた映画のエンドロールをいつまでも見ているような音楽に浸りつつ、それぞれにスマホをいじっている(エレクトロニカ)。KALDIで買ったブラジル カシャンブ農園の豆のコーヒーを飲みながら。きょうは妻のカップを借りて。
長らく使っていなかった妻のiPodを今充電している。Coldplayが届いたら、妻のiPodも復帰かなとぼくは内心喜んでいる。
