@metalcopy : Sat beside Amy, watching a very Normal horror movie (because it was something Metal picked), expression (obviously) unchanging, posture (normally) rigid. But his face occasionally shifts to them to gauge a reaction. Fear? Amusement? Criticism? He is searching for a reaction!!!
Amy's not ignorant as to the other's focus, the drifting glances. But they're admirably focused on the schlocky horror in front of her, less because she's super interested ( what can we say? it's not her genre. ) and more because she wants, more than anything, for Metal to know that Amy cares about what he likes and what he wants.
Still — Amy's not much of a horror gal. They don't jump at most jumpscares, though do yelp at ones with loud sounds. They don't like gratuitous gore, though luckily this one hasn't had much of that. They make an exception to the 'not a horror movie person' rule when the horror is beautiful, tragic metaphor, especially between people who love one another. But this isn't that sort of movie.
They squeak at a jumpscare, cheeks flushing in embarrassment when they realize Metal was looking at them when it happened. They shoot him a look, but it gives way to a weak laugh in no time. Almost conspiratorially, she says, "That was a cheap jumpscare, you gotta admit."
