Tumblr is hilarious because I'm here for all the Dragon Age freaks (hi friends!) and the occasional lurk on the Murderbot freaks (hi possible friends!), which is great, but every once in a while our benevolent but mercurial god (Tumblr) decides that my dash needs some variety and gives me wall-to-wall Something Else that I have never expressed any interest in.
Once it was X Files. Like, every single post was X Files. I was not entirely sure I hadn't time traveled to 1997, except that Tumblr didn't exist then. Today it seems to be Interview With the Vampire.
This, like a fever dream, usually lasts for less than a day, and then the next day my dash is back to Dragon Age, Murderhelion, and, because several of my moots are on that train, Heated Rivalry. I have not seen a single X Files post since that one time.

Ghostly Guides Update
Wrote 600 plus words on the doc today, somehow ended up going the routed of Laura and Derek being pulled into the Stilinski's (which means they need to find Cora now, she probably hasn't gotten far....). Don't know if Claudia's parents are going to stick around the entire time? Maybe? Would lessen the whole "Claudia legitimately haunts her son" angle but eh, more support is nice. I have NO IDEA how this is going to change everything? Cause I'm technically Pre-Canon at the moment (Night of Hale Fire) so uh, yeah that's fun! Scott probably won't be turned, that's for sure. Could regrow the Nemeton, Stiles could probably? I'll figure it out. Laura's most likely still the Alpha given she's not dead. I've never written any of the Dead Hales so that'll be new? Here's hoping it turns out fine? This all started cause my brain cooked up Stiles being able to see ghosts and having it be angsty as shit but it might turn out more fluffy than expected???
Sandman meta posts I want to write if I ever get the spoons lmao:
- aroacespec Dream!!!! with textual evidence
- Dream and Desire's fraught and EXTREMELY COMPLICATED sibling relationship
- why Dream and Delirium have my favorite relationship dynamic of the whole series
- how the Endless are metaphors for various fonts of the queer neurodivergent experience, especially Dream and Delirium
- Dream and Calliope and why their relationship is so so tragic and also wholesome
- how Tom and Melissanthi's portrayals add so much depth and meaning to the above relationship and what I'm interested in seeing come out of that
- why I think Hob is his most healing and significant relationship whether you ship them romantically/sexually or not
- why I wish Dream could have an au where he's in a polyamorous relationship with Calliope and Hob
- how Dream's dysfunction with both Orpheus and Calliope reflects his treatment of himself
- why I prefer Tom Sturridge's portrayal of Morpheus over James McAvoy's, rooted in the way they approached his relationship with his emotions
- how Overture transforms the entire story and adds so much nuance and context to Dream
- various analyses of songs I've put on all my sandman playlists lmao
- probably more I can't think of rip
Fandom experiences I still need to post about:
- why Tom Sturridge is actually the kindest, gentlest, most genuine human I have possibly ever met & is the kind of person to just drop life-changing comments without knowing it lolll
- how I had a fanboy moment over sandman with Freddy Carter lmao
- all my cosplay pictures lolcry

something that i notice in bakugou/consequence fics is that whenever the consequences happen, izuku always speaks up and defends bakugou from getting expelled/punished by saying it's aldera's fault and not his. do you know is that a thing from canon or just fanon? because i've seen it in a lot of fics but don't remember anything like that in canon
Aldera certainly encourages/didn't prevent Bakugou's toxic behavior. Like teachers as I recall did witness his bullshit, and one of Izuku's teachers actually hit Izuku at one point. So it's not entirely unreasonable for Izuku to argue that Aldera is at fault, or that the school is an unhealthy environment.

Honestly that meta post and reflecting back on the reasoning behind the chunin exams just makes Kiri’s canonical absence in the chunin exams make a lot more sense.
All the other villages were like ‘come on and show us your hand so we can see the cards you’re holding :)’ and Kiri told them to fuck off and die.
Actually it makes sense for all of the villages when I think about it. Iwa and Kumo are prosperous enough that they have everything to gain by soft shows of power like that.
Konoha has historically leaned on their positive reputation among wealthy patrons and their selection of extremely talented specialized clans and individually talented shinobi. Konoha HAS to keep up the facade of showing off that they’re still maintaining their power and wealth, both for the sake of their clients and their bigger enemies.
Then you have poor Suna which in canon was fighting a losing battle over rapidly dwindling resources and never had a large population to begin with. If they no-showed in the chunin exams, they’d be giving up even more ground to their competitors and lose even more of their income.
Smaller villages like Kusa and the rest stand to gain by playing ball with the bigger fish and throwing their strongest youth into a potential meat grinder if it means getting more money their way.
And then there’s Kiri.
Kiri has always been historically isolationist. They have a small population, are poor as shit, but they get by (in my opinion) by picking up the dirtiest jobs around that other villages wouldn’t take. There is absolutely no benefit to Kiri to participate in a display like the chunin exams. They have their clients who know what they can do. The people living in Water Country are so physically isolated from other shinobi villages that it’s unreasonable for them to hire anyone else. Furthermore they don’t WANT any of their potential enemies to know what to expect if they ever decide to step foot into their territory looking for a fight.
After all, we are talking about a ninja village who is named after their technique for staying hidden in the mist. Is it any wonder they’d want to keep their power concealed as well?
