Today its 10 years ago since the movie 'The Eagle' was released. This movie means so much to me. When I first saw it back in may 2020, I tought it would be a movie I wouldn't watch again. Bre was I proven wrong. The story was good, but the characters... Marcus and Esca, but meanly Esca was so fascinating. By now Esca owns a piece of my hearth and if I take kids, don't be suprised if one of them is named after my favorite Brigantes.
This movie is my favorite, because of the characters and their dynamic. The movie may not be accurate to the book in terms of the story, but the characters were done right, you will never find a beter Marcus and Esca than Channing and Jamie.
Happy 10 years of The Eagle, a movie I will forever love. 🦅

mesca fae fic? 👀
Oh, my beloved mesca fae fic *yearns* it haunts me in the most beautiful of ways. Just like The Empty Crown, this is another rare fic where all the lore and scenes sit happily in my head for eternity until I manage to finally expel them. Honestly, I ache to finish this fic. It's loosely based on Outlander, Celtic mythology and a dream I had once.
Modern/fantasy AU wherein Marcus accidentally travels through the veil between the mortal world and the world of the fae and Esca is the fae prince of clan Brigante. Marcus is on vacation with his girlfriend Cottia and their friends in the mountains of Italy. While hiking alone he stumbles upon a group of standing stones and loses his balance, falling through an archway, ending up in the land of fae – pulling from a combination of Celtic and Italian mythology reaching back to the time of Britton/Gauls before and during the Roman invasion. Marcus stared up at the large stone, taking in the large crack in the center that let in light through the other side, like someone had taken a hammer to it and only managed to knock loose a sliver of stone before giving up. Except the light shining through the open space looked off, darker, but shimmery somehow as well, like a ripple of disturbed water under the glow of moonlight. Marcus frowned and looked around him again, trying to find the source of the voice who’d called back to him. “Is there anyone here?” Marcus asked loudly, becoming more anxious and confused. A man’s voice called back to him and Marcus whipped around to stare at the rock. “What?” Marcus mumbled to himself. Shaking his head, Marcus walked around to the other side of the stone, but the voices remained unmoving, seeming to come from inside the stone. Marcus scanned it from the top to bottom, looking for a speaker. Was someone playing a trick on him? Marcus circled around to the other side again, even more confused than he’d been seconds before. Breathing a deep sigh, his head throbbing, his leg about to give up on him, Marcus reached out to lean against the stone and rest a moment. With a harsh intake of air, stinging his lungs with a heat so intense it felt cold, Marcus felt his flesh melt from his bones, his insides becoming his outside, and then there was nothing at all.
Liathan: I sleep with a dagger under my pillow.
Cottia: Weak. I sleep with a gun under my pillow.
Marcus: You both are pathetic.
Liathan: OH yeah? What killer weapon do you sleep with, Mr.Badass?
Marcus: Esca.

Ok I just started crying because of Esca feelings, so here are some thoughts:
Esca is beefy
Esca is certainly buffer than Marcus, because
He's working
He used to be a soldier / spear-bearer to his father / charioteer
He used to be a gladiator
He's not sick for most of the book (or film for that matter)
Esca is not tall (he is said to be short for a briton) but has a 'powerful build' (aka BEEFY!!)
Esca has Long Hair, that is a reddish brown. Not blond!
Esca's chest and shoulders are tattooed.
Esca is fucking beautiful
