Aoi floated face-up on the surface of her pond, admiring what parts of the sky she was able to see from the dark woods. She imagined the clouds taking forms of her friends... Sakura was there.... And Oowada... Oh! The mother duck and her ducklings, too. But... something unfamiliar crossed her field of sight. Some sort of bird? It was white, and definitely not a type of bird she had seen before. It just grazed the sky with it's wings, beautifully.

Suddenly there was a loud explosion. Aoi jolted up and looked around for the source of the noise. There was a second explosion. And a third. Then a fourth flew up into the sky.... It was a spell. There must have been a wizard or witch fighting.

The misfired spell struck the bird, and it plummeted down through the trees and onto the ground. "Ah!!! Are you ok?" Aoi squeaked as if the bird could respond. Well. It squawked if anything. Squawked in pain. She reached out of her pond as far as she could without breaking her magic and pulled the bird closer. Well... it was white and it had webbed feet like a duck. Maybe some sort of duck?

Aoi channeled her energy into a ball of water, grazing the water over the bird's wounds. It seemed to be doing better... when she noticed something attached to it's foot. A note.... It would be rude to read it, but maybe she could...

She scrambled for something to write on and engraved writing with magic.

"Dear owner of this adorable bird,

It was hit by a misfired spell and was badly hurt, but I did my best to heal it. No worries! I didn't read the message attached, but perhaps you should find another route to send it? It can get a bit dangerous over the dark woods!! On the off chance you ever respond... What kind of bird is this? Is it a duck? I've never seen one like it!" 

She tied the note to the bird's free leg, and finished it's treatment. As soon as it was well enough to take off again, it elevated into the sky once again, continuing it's route. That was interesting...
