All JoJos put together!
Jonathan Joestar: Head of the Joestar progenitor pod, considered one of the largest mermen in history at a whopping 62 feet in length. His pod extends over several different oceans and includes the Stardust, Green Dolphin, Morioh and Passione sub-pods — he frequently makes trips between each of these sub-pods, generally to visit the other members of his bloodline and coddle their hatchlings. Furthermore, because Jonathan has a unique mix of Caretaker and Protector instincts, he also finds himself tailing ships and swimming around other aquatic vessels in an effort to defend or help them in their endeavors.
Joseph Joestar: As Jonathan’s grandson and the 3rd largest of his kin (54 feet), technically Joseph is lined up to take over the main Joestar bloodline once Jonathan gets too old/passes away — he has no intentions of doing this. He split off from the main Joestar pod once he became mature, and created a smaller pod with a man (mer) named Caesar for a spell. Ceasar helped Joseph in his battle against 4, nearly ancient Leviathan mers, resulting in severely broken ribs and collarbone for Ceasar while Joseph went missing for several months. When he turned back up, he was missing his right arm from the elbow down and swimming in a slightly tilted gait. After that, he co-created another pod with his own grandson, the Stardust Crusaders, and followed them around until he heard about his half Siren son at which point he joined the Morioh pod for a bit and picked up a little fry with a unique “glass flesh” mutation that he went on to name Shizuka.
Jotaro Kujo: Unique among mers for the fact that he has a color changing mutation, and he’s partially immune to Coaxing Siren Songs — they’re unsure as to exactly what caused this, but they’ve speculated that it’s a recessive gene from Holly. He’s INCREDIBLY dense with muscle and about the same size as Joseph. Travelled from Japan’s coasts to Africa’s in search for a cure for his mother’s sudden illness, eventually surrendering her to a facility in Egypt. For the month and a half that they were staying there, they were repeatedly under siege by followers (not pod, followers) of Dio, eventually resulting in a battle that left Avdol a double arm amputee, Kakyoin partially blind in both eyes, and Polnareff missing fins on his left side. In the years following, Jotaro stayed with the Stardust Crusaders off the coasts of Japan, taking care of his less able bodied podmates — he has Jolyne at some point, but both Jotaro and Joseph have to temporarily separate from them to check out Josuke in Morioh and deal with the serial murders of merfolk in vicinity. A few years later, he checks in on Giorno at Jonathan’s request along with Polnareff — Pol stays behind to help integrate Giorno with the Speedwagon Foundation and get the rest of Giorno’s new pod under control. Years later with the remaining Crusaders (and the addition of Shizuka) Jotaro helps Jolyne and her mother finish up agreements with the Green Dolphin Rehabilitation Center, the Crusaders deciding to settle down in a territory just outside of where Jolyne settles.

Thoughts on josuyasu? Also: merman!AU josuke and okuyasu
My honest thoughts on Josuyasu are that they're silly and they are very much in love. I might not post much about them or other ships, but there's a bunch of Jojo ships that I like and enjoy seeing around! (I am just too big of a Speedwagon/Jonathan/Jonawagon trashbag that most of my posts and rbs revolve around them lol).
In the mer!Joestars AU, Josuke would be a merman while Oku is either his caretaker or maybe a regular visitor (since I think he's the youngest Jobro of the bunch?? I'm not too sure about this, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!). Maybe he's a regular visitor who gets a part time job at the aquarium after class!
I know a lot of people has the idea that there's not a single thought in Okuyasu's head, but the reality is that he's a lot smarter than people give him credit for. Sure, he's a silly guy and he may do and say dumb things, but at the end of the day he's a teen acting like most teens do. And not just that, but he can also recognize that he isn't the brightest crayon in the box and yet he is often seen making insightful observations that your Local Certified Dumbass(tm) would sure af not have the brains to make.
With all that considered, I think he would be the kind of guy who becomes just ✨ mesmerized ✨ (or should I say.... "mermerized"? lol) with the aquarium and the sea life living there after some school trip to that place, and even more so after meeting some of the mers living there. After that, he visits the aquarium often and is eager to learn more about sea creatures.
It's been established that Jonathan is often helping visitors and sharing his knowledge with them, so he is always happy to share with Oku his knowledge on both sea life in general as well as about merpeople. Speedwagon (who I'm assuming is either the owner or the manager of the aquarium while *also* doing a lot of the physical work too along with the other Jobros because he genuinely likes doing all that stuff and running the place the best way possible) would see the kid hanging around often and, even if Spw wasn't the observant man he is, he would still be able to notice the Very Evident enthusiasm in Oku's face every time he learns something new and just his eagerness to learn more. And so, a spot would be eventually offered to him for a part time job there. By this point he would know a lot about merpeople already, so it wouldn't take long for him to be considered for a role as a caretaker (with a little help, maybe? since he's still new and not experienced). It would be through his constant visits that he would meet mer Josuke and, now, he would be assigned as Josuke's caretaker due to them being friends already and getting along well.
Needless to say Josuke would be so happy to get more time to hang around with Oku. And, of course, the typical Teen Chaos and all of its shenanigans would ensue from then on. Nothing mean spirited, just teens being teens -them being LOUD, mostly- really lol (idk if merpeople have longer lifespans than humans?? but Josuke is still at the stage of a merperson's life that would be the equivalent to a human's teenage years anyways).
Part four of Mermay is here with Mer! Josuke and Octoyasu! They mostly just spend much of their time collecting human trinkets on the sea floor, chilling in the sunny shallows and trolling Rohan, a once-renowned marine biologist who's now widely ridiculed due to his insistence that mermaids exist.
... if menfolk have/had phones, then would they be called shellphones?

Listen I’m hilarious
Hello and welcome to, “yet another au that I will draw forever”, Merman EditionTM
(Jotaro and Josuke are both half-mer, but where Josuke can shift into 90% human or 90% mer, Jotaro is at a pretty firm 1/2 all the time lmao)
(And Okuyasu is still baby)
Josuke was actually easier to draw than even Joseph, which is weird. His rough sketches were hard, but once I settled on a pose, it got REALLY easy (also, I am working on my Inbox asks, I’ve justr been REALLY busy)
Josuke is a half siren who specializes in Healing Songs — his Songs are considered some of the strongest the oceans have seen in centuries, his colours staying vibrant even after a full day of Singing.
Josuke’s mother was a Siren and his father was Joseph, a normal merman; as a result, Josuke is larger than the average Siren but can still eat the same mix of vegetation and fish that Coastal Merfolk can, just in higher quantities. Unlike Joseph, Josuke has no poison spines nor electric currents, relying on his size and fast twitch muscles to keep himself safe.
