Fire alarms
IMAGINE: The fire alarm goes off at three am, and the complex wakes up and heads outside. Mercy adorned her Canadian print boxers and a tank top, with a black leather jacket over it, she had managed to slip on her black combat boots and stood in the freezing cold. Wearing basically nothing. Ren on the otherhand was wearing a flannel long sleeved shirt, random pajama bottoms, and a pair of vans. Ren looked at his phone and sighed at the time. "Funny, eh? We meet again like this." He heard a sly voice say. He looked up to come face to face with Mercy. His face flushed instantly, and he looked away. Mercy took off her jacket and placed it around Ren's shoulders. "You look cold sweetie." Mercy smiled. "Oh, thank you." Ren smiled and tugged it tighter around him. "Yeah no problem." Mercy nodded and looked back at the building. Soon everyone was allowed back in. "Here's your jacket back." Ren took it off to hand it to her. "Keep it." Mercy smiled and headed inside. Ren stood there for a few minutes, clutching the jacket in his left hand. A small smile flowered on his face and he headed back inside.
The cast-iron revolutionary is snatched from the crusher by a collector who figures it could be worth something some day.

MERENI, Moldova | Vladimir Lenin stands guard at the gate in front of Valeriu Plamadeala’s house in this central Moldovan village. At 2 ½ meters (eight feet), he towers above passers-by, his soldered-on right arm pointing west.
Plamadeala says he’s no communist – if anything, he leans to the right. But this past spring he bartered the 800-kilogram (1,800-pound) cast-iron statue away from a company that was going to sell it for scrap. An employee of a scrap-metal firm himself, he estimates it would have fetched about $100.
