The natural world is abundant with circles. Observing these circles in the world, each eye with its circular lens apprehends the world in circular units. In circle-shaped paintings, configured for a domestic scale, I have sought to catch some of the beauty of the rhythms, curves and pitches of a lively river valley. These valley shapes are inherently pleasing; wave-like shapes of rivers and mountains are pleasant and beautiful.
