All Ashley Williams wanted to do was coach basketball without her grandfather's legacy derailing her career. She just didn't count on being caught up in making history at Normandy University under the first female head coach of a men's team.
A belated posting due to RL, but hereâs my collaboration with the fantastic @lakambinii for the Mass Effect Reverse Big Bang!
Ashley sighed. âI think it went OK. The coaching demonstration went better than Iâd expected, but it was hard for me to read the rest of the staff during the meeting this afternoon. Dinner and lunch were fine, but who the hell knows at this point.â
âIâm sure you rocked it,â Lynn said decisively. âHow long did you spend prepping for this?â
She wanted to respond, Prepâs not everything, but swallowed it. To be fair, this was honestly the furthest sheâd gotten in the interview process for a job at a four-year university. Sheâd been trying to land a spot on a womenâs team for years, ever since sheâd finished her masterâs program, but even with her CV and her references, she barely got even phone interviews. Most programs put two and two together with her last name and decided it wasnât worth risking their programâs reputation by hiring Richard Williamsâ granddaughter.
âWay too fucking long,â she answered instead. âAnyway, they said I should hear back in about two weeks if I got the job or not.â
âYouâre gonna get the job,â Sarah said. âIâve looked up David Anderson and even aside from hiring Shepard, he has a reputation for not caring what other people think. You made it this far, which means that the search committee likes you, and he has final say, right?â
