This is allowed to stay in your askbox for a year, but next time you have the urge to infodump about menheads, please tell me in detail the fashion design choices you would make if we turned it into a stage musical formatted similarly to Hamilton <3
The easiest part of this would be costuming the ensemble as I feel that what Hamilton did with the vaugly historical bases + additional costume peices to build up character would fit well for Menheads. However, instead of coats and dresses it would be with the addition of cloaks and capes of various shapes, sizes and colour. I feel that in the first act the cloaks/capes would all be shorter, with the longest maybe being elbow length, and in the second act the cloaks/capes being long, probable about knee length. This would create the ensemble all feel like one set group and give the inmpression that time and fashion has passed between the two acts.
For the main cast, it would be a base of a white shirt with some sort of combination of a flat colour waistcoat or stages, and a flat colour trousers or ankle length skirt. The main difference would be their cloaks/capes. Theirs would start off short and relatively simple in design (similar to how in hamilton they all start with mostly similar revolution jackets or dresses) and then would become more personalised half way through act 1 (similar to how Lafayette gets a special jacket and the Schuyler sisters dresses become more distinct bodices from eachother).
(yes I did go back and edit this one in)
In act 2, their cloaks/capes will become longer like the ensemble and will stay that way till the end. In act 2, the standard costumes fro main cast will also change slightly to incorporate little blue accessories to show the more mourning and death that is surrounding them. The Observers will also start to wear elements of tye ceremonial/formal wear for their respective Deities. This would be in place of the physical attributes of using each deities magic becoming more prominent due to their excessive use of magic because it would read better on stage and would be cheaper that the make up that would need to be done to show the physical attributes.
The Observers siblings/family would keep the same costume through out till their assension, in which they would that their corresponding diety ceremonial/formal wear from the Observers and wear it till the end of the show. I think they would also wear blue veils after their assension to show them Mourning their human lives and the Observers. (I imagine the actual death scenes of the Observers to be similar to the death scene of all the revolutionaries in Les Mis)
