#3516 - Menetia greyii - Common Dwarf Skink
AKA Grey's skink, native to mainland Australia and Indonesia.
Named after explorer George Grey, who became Governor of South Australia and later Governor of New Zealand.
One of Australia's most widespread and abundant lizards, found in over 90% of the mainland, all of it west of the Great Dividing Range. It feeds on termites, ants, small spiders, and other small invertebrates, and is eaten by practically any predator bigger than it (I fear one of us may have stepped on this one as it was hiding among leaf litter).
