       at first glance, nozaki’s utter silence might have appeared like quiet reflection and repentance on his part – gestures perhaps WARRANTED when one is not only caught suspiciously taking an abundance of photos at the mall, but additionally when one troubles a friend to advocate for them to the police. after hori finishes supporting nozaki’s defense of being a manga artist, the attention turns back to the perpetrator …  who suddenly appears too gleeful. instead of apologizing to both hori and the police officer, nozaki shares something else entirely.  ❝ doesn’t this scene remind you of a manga? ❞ he asks, fists now clenched in excitement for his discovery.  ❝ a young girl is accused of doing something wrong, and when the police don’t believe her explanation, her crush suddenly shows up to defend her ! ❞  what a heart-pounding moment! he would definitely use this in his next segment, whether it would be for suzuki and mamiko or some of the side characters!

          Today’s round of morning deliveries involved one particularly special order, placed last  by Yerin herself:  breakfast for Jaehee. Yesterday, her friend’s workload had been more concerning than usual with the extent of Jumin’s cat food madness finally unraveling, and Yerin thought it could help to cook and deliver a bit of early energy to Jaehee. She packaged everything fastidiously, sectioning, wrapping with paper, even choosing to leave before the real orders would pour in so she would have the time to meet Jaehee properly  (instead of having to leave her lunch box at the front desk). There’s a pinch of soury defeat when she has to give her name to security in order to be allowed upstairs, ruining the impact of a GOOD surprise – but by the time Yerin sees Jaehee, the dismay’s long melted to delight. 

Excitement colors her cheeks, pink burgeoning from more than the cool weather outside as she hurries to greet her, chiming an admittedly dorky ❝ Special delivery ! ❞ with her box. The plan playing out as intended, she still feels a bit shy to actually be here now, without invitation … but the desire to treat Jaehee perseveres, and Yerin beams.  ❝ Good morning, Jaehee. I brought you some breakfast! ❞  she opens the box to reveal thickly-wrapped sandwiches. ❝ It’s just a light toasted ham, cheese, and lettuce sandwich, but I -- I thought it might be easy to eat if you don’t have much time … ❞ Gah, why can’t she stop blushing?

       ❝ Oh, I included some rice balls and cut-fruit too for you to eat later for lunch, or a snack! ❞ Wait, what about the most important piece? ❝  Oh, and the coffee!  Um … ❞  She had worked hard on that too, following a recipe she knew Jaehee approved of. Yerin looks around, wondering where she’s placed it … until she realizes, she’s left it AT HOME, on the counter. ❝  The coffee … ❞  THE MOST VITAL PIECE. How could she have forgotten ?! APOLOGIES flood as if from a broken spigot as Yerin expresses her profound regret, received with the usual kindness and reassurance from Jaehee. But amidst Yerin’s sorrow, her friend suddenly attempts a different method to bring her to smile again. A pun. 

A coffee pun, at that, none too different from the one Yerin had teased at Starbucks not too long ago. But coming from JAEHEE, so sweetly, ADORABLY, and unexpectedly, all Yerin’s woes immediately fall away from her, futile against Jaehee’s cuteness.

     This is already happening in the thread we’re doing but these two are just… the worst at predicting the endings to movies. They get so into their absurdly-convoluted theories that when the actual end of the movie does come they riot. On more than one occasion Nana has said, “We could make a better movie than this. We have the technology,” and Haru has fervently nodded along, but they’ve never get past the overly-ambitious planning stage.

     Whenever Haru comes to one of Nana’s games, Nana is like… constantly firing off dabs dumbass victory poses at Haru in the stands whenever she sinks a basket and it honestly gives the opposing team like… emotional whiplash. Nana is an absolute demon on the court but there are these 10-second pockets during the game where she’s just whooping back and forth with Haru as she runs back into position. Her teammates are (unevenly) split between annoyance (majority) and finding it mildly amusing (minority).

     They have their fair share of sleepovers, which Nana is thrilled about, because everyone else she’s even sorta-friends with finds her way too annoying to put up with all night (especially because she… has trouble getting to sleep in general and always wants to talk all night). Nana absolutely does Haru’s hair at every single one in increasingly-complicated styles.

     Her response is immediate and, for once, not dominated by boisterous words (there is a brief, bravado-filled exclamation, but it’s more of a sound than anything coherent, really). Nana hears the wind rush past her ears as she immediately makes the leap from floor to bed, feet hitting the mattress with an audible thwap.

     Most of the times she’s played this game it’s been by her lonesome (rainy days in too-big apartments, wishing her mother would come home to play too but knowing somewhere in her heart that even if she were present, she’d end up refusing the invitation regardless of the amount of fuss Nana tried to kick up), though there have been a few times she’s played it at school, during which she’s always reigned supreme. That’s mostly because she’s always been completely willing to launch herself at high-up cabinets and leap across desks even once the teacher’s return and subsequent yelling has corralled her classmates back into their seats around her. It’s never gotten her the praise she feels she deserves for that, but Nana chalks it up to jealousy on her old elementary school classmates’ parts.

     Raising her head to look at Haru, Nana is all bright, determined eyes and wide, childish grins. She hovers in a half crouch, shuffling excitedly from side to side, fingers flexing restlessly at her hips.
