Fic summary:
“Trinity? Did you hear me?”
Silence. At this point, he walks over to the front of the couch and she knows the moment he sees her face because he freezes. She can feel the tear-tracks drying on her cheeks, but can’t muster the effort it would take to wipe them away—she doesn’t even have the energy to keep crying.
“Trin?” his voice cracks and he looks scared, and she realizes in that moment how much she doesn’t like him being scared.
She blinks at him, slow, faltering.
When the words leave her, they’re hollow and raspy and spoken with none of the emotion that’s been roiling around in her chest, “My brother’s dead.”
