They’ve given this plenty of thought, and they’ve even talked it over with their family. For Captain Frisk, their ideal death is one that allows them to continue serving monsterkind.
They would prefer to die peacefully, surrounded by family, so that their brother - and by then, he’d be the King, they imagine - can take their soul and walk through the Barrier. It’d be easy enough of course, to gather the six remaining souls needed to destroy the Barrier when on the surface.
