It's not always about making money offa art ALL the time... Lemmie tell you the story About a sistah named Lark All through college She Used to buy my art Held me down At sanfrancisco STATE Despite the campus Showing alot of prejudice and hate Helped run the BSU And was considered fam She put me on And got me paid By a many programs But had a slight problem With her mental health And when nobody offered help She killed herself It was sooo devastating I almost got stuck In a state of shock But then I thought Nobody gives a F--- There are so many of us Who are on our own Without loved ones who care Nor a place to call home No friends nor family Who'll even pick up the phone So the saddest part of this story Is she was not alone There's folks on the street Alot of people walk past And if they make eye contact The person starts walking fast While assistance might be needed But no one dares to even ask So LARK is not the first Nor will she be the last This is why I try Even though I cry Cause I know that I One day will also die And may not even become a headline on the daily news Or might just become a hashing For a day or two So this is why I try to put love in my art Cause life for some of us is no walk in the park And Everytime I think about depression Before My self pity starts I grab my heart And think about this young sistah Lark...
