NISHA PLATZER Work In Progress: BACK HOME
Open House: Thursday March 26, 5-7pm
Window Screening: Monday March 30, 6-7pm
Burrard View Fieldhouse 545 N Slocan Street
For the fifth month of our WORK IN PROGRESS series, Iris Film Collective member Nisha Platzer will be continuing work on her feature film, BACK HOME, a kaleidoscopic piece reflecting on the life and loss of her older brother Josh, who took his own life in 1999. Parts of the film are shot on Super 8 and 16mm and then manually altered to create an expressive and disturbing visual quality. Throughout the month of March Nisha will be trying out different techniques with the aim of finding the right aesthetic for these more abstract sections of the film.
On Thursday March 26 from 5-7pm Nisha will host an Open House where the public is welcome to have a look at the work she has been doing at the Fieldhouse this month. This will be followed on Monday March 30th from 6-7pm, by a Window Screening of her work in progress.
Iris Film Collective’s WORK IN PROGRESS series is a month-long residency at the Burrard View Fieldhouse featuring a different Iris Film Collective member each month who will be using the space to work on their individual projects. The public is invited to pop by while they are working; as well, some days/evenings in the month are devoted to public events. This is a great opportunity to meet the artists and see what they are up to, as well as to visit the Fieldhouse and check out our setup!
