Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?I donât really have a favourite tbh, I quite like using coloured inks and acrylic paint etc and Iâm still learning to use photoshop really :âD tho I quite like it, and Iâve been practicing more with it this pas semester How many classes have you taken?I took like a sort of introductory class for the school Iâm now studying at. The introductory class was every saturday for 6 months or so, and Iâve been studying at this art academy for 3 years now. My high school was also pretty pro-art, so we had a more general art class which focused on doing all kinds of different things really, paper mache, wire wrapping (making your own jewelry), drawing, making sculptures, building sets for our school plays :P and we had another class which had a different gues teacher every few weeks, so weâve been taught how to draw manga :âD, how to tag (graffiti), how to make a shadow puppet theater, how to make a stop motion etc, I loved this class :) We also had art history, and music history as well (which was supposed to be normal music class, but our teacher was like ânah fuck that, imma teach the history of music instead of having to listen to you idiots trying to play an instrumentâ)Whatâs your favorite thing to draw?Iâm going to have to go with mermaids. Also mythological creatures. And fauns. Deer in general are pretty cool. Also cats. And flowy hair. And pretty ladies. And mermaids. How often do you use references?Quite a lot actually :) for buildings etc in my comics, for fins/fish tails for my mermaids, dresses for clothing for pretty ladies. How much time do you spend drawing on an average day?Way too little. How many art-related blogs do you follow?121. Seriously. I counted them. 121, most of which are artists, the rest is reference/tutorial stuff.Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people? Both? I draw something because I like it, and then share it with people hoping they like it as well. And I do like drawing things for people, but Iâm still a bit insecure about it :âD especially because I personally know so many talented artistsHow long does an average piece take you to complete?Jeeeeeez, this varies so much. 1 comic page, can take up from 2 hours to 4-5 hours, it completely depends on how I am drawing it (the style I mean), and what materials Iâm using. While a design for silk screen printing can take up 30 minutes to 1 hour (I havenât done super detailled designs yet tho). Self portraits, anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour. Honestly it completely depends on how much time I want to spend on it. And also on the materials etc. yehDo you think youâre justified in giving other people art advice?Uh, sorta, I think I do know what I am talking about, even though Iâm still learning myself. Iâve noticed that my study has taught me how to look differently at art, it doesnât matter if itâs a comic, or a renaissance painting, or a modern sculpture, I can see what I believe are the âflawsâ, and explain why I donât like those specific aspects, or why they disrupt the image etc. So yes, I think/hope I can critique someoneâs work, and hopefully help them improve :)What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?âŚHands. Humans in general really. Anatomy, jeez. Ah, also perspective, my god I cannot, for the life of me, draw shit in perspective.Do you like to challenge yourself?Yes and no. Iâm a bit of a wuss when it comes to my work tbh, but I do want to learn, so I guess Iâll have to challenge myself?Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?Original art. Actually, I donât think I have ever drawn fan art. Wow. Wait.No.I made a Crom Cruach silk screen printing design, based on the Crom Cruach from the film The Secret of Kells :3Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?Definitely with music. For digital artists: how many layers does a typical piece require?Again, it depends on the style, I just finished a 5 page comic, each page had max 8 layers, including the sketch and the white background. But I also have a soap design thing with like 25 layers. So.For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)Sketchessssssssss, ya know, normal pencil on paper. I donât use any fancy smancy stuff for my sketching.Â
