Puddles & Trees | Dany & Lehain
Her task was simple—at least on paper it was. Lehain already knew that whatever mission she’d be given it was going to be something of great importance. Which was exactly why she made sure to do everything she could to prepare for being away from the city as possible. She took an extra amount of time ensuring that she had everything needed for a trip away. Being away from her group always made her a little more on edge considering she would be with others that she didn’t have as much experience with. Working on her own, though, that she was used to.
Being in charge was not new at all. Before joining Torque’s group she had been in charge of others before on missions or whatever else was needed. It was comforting, in a sense, since she trusted in herself.
Walking her way through the encampment, Lehain nodded to a few Mancers she recognized. Her gaze was cold, calculated, and emulated the snowy mountains of the Cold North. She was fully on alert, which was exactly why as she strode along the tree line, she ensured that everyone was where they needed to be.
Being in charge of defending the tree line had Lehain adopting more strategic thinking than she had in a while and she’d be lying if she said she didn’t find it exhilarating. Her magic nearly hummed from within her for the chance to finally have some sort of purpose or challenge. Even though she had enough faith in the other Mancers that they would be able to handle it, she still was walking through the ranks every few hours. Sleeping while on a mission was hard to come by, especially when a battle was looming over them all. Which was exactly why she was standing in the one spot she assumed any of the Knights would think to try to sneak through. Sitting atop a branch, she waited to see if anything or anyone would approach.
Sure enough the breaking of some twigs and leaves caught her ears. It wasn’t hard to miss in the otherwise quiet trees. Knights could be so loud. Deciding she’d wait for them to become closer it wasn’t until she could see their general form that she dropped down loudly to surprise them. Her arms were over her chest and she rose her eyebrows at the bulkier and taller male, clearly a knight, stood before her.
