Embarrassed as in ‘omg, thinking about my ships makes me SO EMOTIONAL and seeing my shitty attempt at trying to express it is SO DISAPPOINTING’.

Still can’t believe this drawing won the Ships Going Down Fan Art Contest??????????????

Like, I only logged back onto Gaia around that time just to check on the manga after years of yearly checks. I don’t even remember how I found out about the contest, but it def had to do with the Ships Going Down RIG: googled for the art because I didn’t know the GCD had art threads--only forum I ever knew was the Barton RP one--and was like OMG MEILIO IS A THING?!?! BLESS!!!!!! (gotta reblog that pic at some point)

Basically went from ‘never really thought about these characters that much’ to full blown FANGIRL MODE. (Probably had something to do with how Homestuck was on hiatus).

Mistakenly thought that the aforementioned Meilio pic can be gotten from the Ships Going Down RIG (it’s from a previous RIG doofus!!!) so I started buying GC for the first time to try and get this stupid pic even though I’ve already saved a copy to my hard drive.

And then I somehow learned about the contest, and how there’s more of this RIG as prizes. But then I got distracted by the submissions, and got the urge to compile everything into one post for easier tracking. Tbh I was sort of hoping there’d be some nice looking Meilio pics. There were 2 other Meilio entries and they’re kinda okay I guess, but not quite how I like it.

When it became obvious to me that there wasn’t going to be anymore Meilio entries, I guess I decided to take it upon myself to try.

Me, who had not picked up my tablet in about a year and who doodles a handful of times annualy, with a program I’ve only just gotten, to draw two characters that I never drew before in a scenario that tends to leave me in a fugue state of bliss. (cry)

According to the file data, it took me a day, but it sure as hell felt like a couple of them. I think I spent a lot of time on some kind of posing 3D rig because omg that feature looks cool, and then I drew over it. Did not sleep that night because I was so close to the deadline. Pretty sure I slapped on the colour and the bg in less than half an hour before I submitted. There was also less than half an hour left before the cut off by the time it’s been posted. (crycrycry)

Yeah, I still can’t believe this thing was eligible for one of the Grand Prizes.

After the contest ended I sort of avoided looking at this pic as much as I could because I get such intense feelings... asdfghjkl even with a 3D rig, I still messed up the anatomy, omg hugging from behind is too intimate for me!!!! aaaaaaaa etc. At least after all these months I can look at it for a couple of seconds before emotions take over. I guess it might not look as bad as I thought it was.
