@lunasink asked me if any Buffy characters map to The Blue Castle and I immediately thought of Tara for Valancy. And then I just started thinking about Tara moving out of her abusive family and getting her confidence back and I just love it.

I kinda forgot about that plotline until this week and I’m just obsessed with it all over again.

So I guess in conclusion: Tara.

HMM i'm thinking about it and i DEFINITELY see the valancy/tara parallels -- and this is a little bit of a curveball take from me (that will hearken back to 2017 buffyverse femslash tumblr, if anybody remembers ye olden days) but within this situation i think faith would actually make an AMAZING barney? like obvs the, uh, later plot developments re: his background don't map onto faith's situation At All, but the isolation and the belief that people are inherently shitty and just the total lack of comprehension that anyone could have genuinely good intentions ... i can really see faith and tara playing off of each other in a way that might mimic how valancy's more sarcastic combative nature is brought out through barney's implicit encouragement.
