Jimmy just constantly gets away with it, again and again. Even when he dies it’s a form of getting away with it. That’s what I think is so ironic about his death, he KILLS HIMSELF instead of getting in that cryochamber. He doesn’t get in that cryochamber and if they get saved 20 years down the line, tell those people what actually happened to the tulpar crew.
He just passes off responsibility on to Curly by putting him in that cryochamber who can’t even tell anybody. (Not saying Jimmy should’ve been the one to go in there but whatever I don’t have a better alternative) It lets Curly live with his actions, maybe because he was the one that let this happen but also you can’t blame him for everything and his fate isn’t completely deserved. His fate isn’t a form of karma because we don’t take joy from his suffering !!!
Jimmy just can’t even take responsibility right and turns escaping his actions into some kind of heroic act just like how he twists the image of Curly in his mind to be a bad person to justify his actions. It’s all just a justification sort of thing I think? Correct me if I’m wrong haha

I am super interested in the concept that frisk changes physically from the amount of lv they gain but I feel like the reality is a LOTTT scarier
I think frisk NOT changing as their actions get more horrific and depraved reallyyy reinforces the message of undertale that
A) you’re not frisk, you choose what they do most of the time, you lead them down this path. Them changing due to those actions makes it seem more like we as the player are frisk which isn’t true. Them staying the same kind of shows how much of a vessel they truly are (though i know they have like their own independent thought and at times, especially during geno route they show that too!!) and how easily we as the player can manipulate them (Idk if I explained this super well???😭)
and B) anyone can literally do anything, it’s a matter of choice. Anyone can be pushed to hurt someone else (like sans for example) it’s due to a matter of circumstance. Sometimes that circumstance is simply curiosity, which is obviously a big reason why people do the genocide route. Frisk changing because of the killing gives more of a ‘face’ to it, if that makes sense?
I think what’s more harrowing than any art of frisk in that ‘changed’ state is that they are just them. Despite everything it’s just them. There’s no poster face (that is definitely not the phrase) to murder, anyone can do it, anyone can be terrible, just as anyone can be good. It’s just a matter of choice.

Sure there’s a whole meaning about now he’s forced to watch the consequences of his actions of letting Jimmy run around the ship after previously ignoring it and turning a blind eye (see what I did there). Now that he’s made a choice the game makes damn sure he sticks with it.
There is nothing left for him to do but watch what he has allowed to happen because his eye is the only thing he can really use on his own. He’s now a spectator in his own body, forced by Jimmy to take the pills, forced by Jimmy to eat his own flesh and forced by him to stay alive. Jimmy is the captain now and makes almost every choice for him, whether he wants that or not. The monster he allowed or just down right ignored (whether or not Curly could’ve actually done anything is actually difficult to say because of the way Pony express is and also the limited options on the ship. Be 100 percent aware I don’t completely blame curly in the slightest!!!) is now his saviour of sorts. And he has to live with the fact that he is only alive because Jimmy let him. That all he can do is watch the man that massacred his friends and caused their deaths save his life. You’re saved by the people you save.
But also his eye must be fucking dry?? Like eyeballs are no joke they gotta stay moist and if you don’t blink bacteria will start climbing in there and rooting around as they do after like a few weeks let alone a few days

I don’t think you really get a real sense of what Anya is like as her own person. STAY WITH ME PLEASE THIS IS NOT AN ANYA HATE POST I LOVE HER!!
It’s just that she’s under so much emotional stress due to being around her abuser and also being pregnant that we never get to see who Anya is. She’s always on edge and nervous (for 100 percent good reason !!) Plus being through the perspective of Jimmy mainly doesn’t help us seen who she really is.
We don’t see her as a capable and competent nurse because of the way Jimmy frames her, the way he talks about her when in his perspective and the way he treats her. I didn’t really think about how capable a nurse she was because it’s hard to keep somebody in Curly’s conditions ALIVE with limited resources because it’s never mentioned by Jimmy even once. All he sees are her faults because it allows him to feel better about what he did to her, allows him to just see her as not really a human who has prospects and a good future in nursing ahead of her.
Jimmy just wants to take everything from her that could’ve made her human in his eyes so he can feel better about what he did, so he doesn’t feel guilt and doesn’t feel the need to take responsibility. He acknowledges Curly being a ‘hero’ and a good person and (not sure if this an actual quote from the game or if I’m just stupid) that he can’t be half the man Curly was and that’s only because he believes that’s something he can ‘fix’ by putting him in the cryochamber.
ANYWAY main point is that Jimmy is unreliable narrator and attempts to take away Anya’s achievements by not acknowledging them so he can view her simply as an object which lets him feel better about what he did.
Swansea appreciation because him killing Daisuke is just the ultimate merciful action in my eyes? Not being selfish enough to let someone you love slowly die just because you want more time with them, or holding on to false hope while only putting them in pain is so hard !!!
Especially when Jimmy could never have done something like that, never taken responsibility for ending someone’s life even if it’s for a good reason, you can see that in his reaction to it. JIMMY IS LITERALLY SO UNFIT TO BE CAPTAIN IT IS UNREAL!!! Instead of making the hard decisions, He says he can fix it, holding on to false hope so he can ease his own conscience but at this point nobody’s believing him.
He can’t keep saying he’ll fix it and they’ll believe it, like they believed it when he twisted Curly’s story about not being sure he wants to do the job anymore AND ALSO AND ALSO WHEN SWANSEA SAYS ‘YOU CAN TELL THE WHATEVER THE HELL STORY YOU LIKE’??? Like at that point he’s very aware of Jimmy’s manipulation now
The action of Swansea killing Daisuke lets him believe he can kill Swansea, just like how he excuses him causing Curly’s injuries because Curly is a ‘bad person’ and was going on to bigger and better things. It’s just all excuses with Jimmy
Anyway Swansea is such a good character and I love him and we need more Swansea fans💕

I love how so very different Jane and Kenny are as characters but like I think at their core they value pretty similar things, they just have different ways of showing it

I wanted Javi to be in season 4 SO BAD for no actual reason
(rant abt unimportant things that are very much me reading into things too deeply)
As lacking as season 3 was to some people, Javi is a good brother figure to Clem and he cares about her. I mean it’s obvious he’s good with kids and teens (ofc Mari and Gabe) and every game ends with Clem having an older figure who she can rely on present, (you might say apart from season 4 BUT I could argue that that figure is her and she’s grown to emulate all of the people who have ever been by her side and taken care of her, so much so that she can now be that for herself and for Aj. It also leaves Aj with an older figure who he can rely on present which is why it would’ve been such a good move to have him as a protagonist for the season 5 that won’t exist, it also would follow twd protagonist ‘pattern’ BUT I DIGRESS) e.g Lee/Christa and Omid, Kenny or Jane, so obviously he matters to her to a degree (I know Javi and Clem didn’t spend much time together but I’m ignoring that because I choose to).
The moment where he does her hair (if you choose to) at the end of season 3 is so sweet and obviously parallels Lee, alongside the fact that he’s the only other protagonist that isn’t Lee but that’s kind of a stretch. I just think he must’ve made some sort of impact on Clem right?? She very clearly trusted him as they spend more time together and you can tell my some of the things she tells him etc. and I could say that the game is trying to make that obvious too
I KNOWWW beggars can’t be choosers and realistically there was no place for Javi in season 4 but I also wish that man wasn’t implied to be like dead (in the flashback in the car with much younger Aj Clem says ‘can’t go back to Richmond, that whole place is a war zone’. I’ve heard and I originally thought they were at war with Lilly’s group? Which makes me think they’re even less alive, seeing her brutality and the extremes she goes to)
I know seeing them as dead is a really grim way to view it but it’s what I thought of when I first heard that line of dialogue 😭
My dream circumstance that won’t happen is a dlc that includes the whereabouts of some of the missing characters like Bonnie, Arvo and Mike , Christa and the Garcias. They could also bring back some of the 400 days characters and what happened to them after Carver’s death or even the people who stole the boat in s1. I mean, hell, kill off some of them even I’d just like to know what happened to these guys!!!
Keep in mind this is all coming from ME so this is all so biased towards prioritising side characters that probably shouldn’t be prioritised so if you disagree you probably should
