So I'm annoyed by the unofficial-tech Railgun in MML, because it performs like a IHGauss/HGauss combo
That doesn't really strike me as "Railgun" y'know?
SO!
Railgun:
A Railgun is an Artillery weapon, with the caveat that it cannot fire indirectly unless the target is beyond 20 map sheets away, however unlike other artillery weapons, it may fire directly if clear line-of-sight exists up to 20 map sheets away, with a spotter, and its projectiles move 50 map sheets per turn instead of the normal amount. Railguns fire with a -2 to hit directly, and +5 indirectly.
Railguns are packed with volatile capacitors, and violently explode when destroyed, dealing 3x their tonnage in damage.
Railguns may only fire every other turn if the vehicle or 'mech with one is using any non-fusion or fission engine, and doesn't have a Power Amplifier, but may fire every turn if it does.
Mounting a Railgun on a 'Mech reduces its Run MP by 2, and reduces the threshold for a piloting skill check to avoid falling from damage by 5.
Stats:
Heat 40 Damage 30/20/10 Minimum Range - Short Range - Medium Range - Long Range 100 Maps Tons 30 Critical Slots 1 (Combat Vehicles); 12 (Support Vehicles); 15 ('Mechs) Ammo Per Ton 2 Cost (unloaded) 3,000,000 Ammo Cost (per ton) 150,000
Railguns have two ammo types, Standard (HE), and Sabot, which removes all splash damage and reduces direct-hit damage to only 10, but with 8 damage also dealt directly to structure through armor, at a +4 to hit on top of other modifiers, and only 1 shot per ton.
