my mother recently told me how this world is so self centered nowadays, like "hey look at me" and I honestly can say that I have never disagreed with something so much. I don't think people actually realize how much courage it takes to take a photo of yourself, or ask someone to take a photo of you?? especially when you've spent so many years being so insecure that you didn't even want to look at yourself in the mirror? and how much strength it took to finally love yourself and be proud of who you are and what you look like and when you want to showcase to the world how confident you are after years of mentally abusing yourself over how you look, I think that's beautiful. It's strength. And it's not always easy to do it, I don't think people actually realize that. It's progress and empowerment. It's not selfish and conceded. I wish people understood that, because loving yourself is one of the hardest things you'll ever be able to do and when you're damn proud of yourself and think, "I look bomb af today" than honey show it off. you've spent years building your courage. shine it bright
