We've all had toxic people in our lives that we’re better off without. I was so convinced of this at times in my past, that I even read a self-help book about “givers” and “takers” a very long time ago, despite not really being the “self-help book” type of gal. Megan Sullivan McInerney, the Sydney singer songwriter and musician whom many of us have come to love these last few years as MEG MAC, focuses on that unbalanced dilemma on her new song I’m Not Coming Back. She fuses beautiful harmonies with an anthemic drum beat while exploring the idea of letting go of someone who is only around when they need you. She says: “Everyone has a person in their life that’s only around when they need something. You only hear from them when they need you; they only call you when they’re down.  So you pick them up and try to take a little pain away. But when you need them, they’re never around.” Let’s say goodbye to those unnecessary fair-weather friends alongside MEG MAC as she serenades us with her soulful and expressive voice on the excellent new song. I’m Not Coming Back is an empowering anthem with a touch of 60s styled jangles and a bluesy reediness that gives it a strong Lucius meets King Princess allure. Alongside the new song, MEG MAC has also announced her new album HOPE, out June 7th and available for pre-order, here.Â
