About Me
Hello, my name is Daniel Garcia and I’m an FTM transgender. Growing up was a long and difficult time for me. As far back as I can remember, being as young as a 4 year old kid, I knew in my heart that something wasn’t right. I knew right away that I was different. I was born a girl......when inside I felt like a boy. I never liked stereotypical girl things like dresses, makeup, or playing with dolls. I was into sports and video games. I always had guy friends, never girl friends. I hated going shopping because me and my mom would always fight, me wanting to wear guy clothing when she is wanting me to wear dresses. I HATED taking pictures, because I was forced to wear makeup and wear something I wasn’t comfortable in. I was in kinder garden when I knew that I was into girls. As time went by, I stopped battling with my feelings and tried to be “normal”. So I identified as a lesbian ever since. I met the love of my life in 2007. We were in the same soccer team. We became best friends. And as we got to know each other, we fell in love. I was living my life as a lesbian. It wasn’t until I got my hair cut on September 07, 2013 that reminded me of my true feelings. When I looked into the mirror with my new hair......for the first time in my life I saw someone who almost looks like the real me. Feeling my ponytail being cut off was the most AMAZING feeling ever. I felt free. Till this day, I still place my hand on the back of my head and smile. As time went by, I was still identifying as a lesbian......until I started to notice that random people referred to me as ‘Sir’ or ‘Bro’. Surprisingly, it felt REALLY good. One day I was home alone and binned my chest with an ace bandage because of curiosity and I put on a shirt.......looked into the mirror........ and SMILED BIG! Not long after that I started researching on chest binding and found out to NEVER bind with an ace bandage (oops!) hahaha so I started looking at chest binders. A year past by, it was August 31, 2014. While roaming on YouTube, I can across a video titled “Are You Transgender?” A video of a gender therapist explaining what transgender and what dysphoria is. At the end of the video, I was in tears........FINALLY after many years, EVERYTHING made sense! I’m not a lesbian, I’m Transgender!
