“Uzune?” Kazuaki whispers, reaching to poke him with one finger then thinking the better of it. “Uzune, you’re talking in your sleep.”

Hitori stirs, his features creased in sadness, or perhaps fear - it’s too dark for him to tell. “I know, I’m sorry.”

Kazuaki sits up straighter and rubs his eyes. Who’s he talking to? Maybe he’s having a bad dream. Should he get him tea or something? Hitori’s done that for him before.

“I meant to, I just...no, don’t go...” Hitori trembles, his pleading tone piercing the night air. 

Kazuaki frowns. This isn’t like Hitori at all. He hesitatingly lays a hand on the other man’s shoulder. “Uzune...”

Hitori curls into him, warm against Kazuaki’s side. His face is against his thigh, and it muffles his voice. 

“Gimme a little more time...I will...I just need a little more time.”

“Time for what?” Kazuaki blurts out before he can stop himself.

Hitori jumps, as if startled, and cranes his neck to look up at him. “Oh. Good morning. I hope I didn’t wake you.” He smiles in the darkness, his hair hiding his eyes. 

Kazuaki shakes his head. “Did you have a bad dream?”

“Something like that. I’m okay, Kazuaki. Go back to sleep.”

“Are you sure?” 

“I’m sure.” Hitori brushes Kazuaki’s bangs from his face as the blond settles back against the pillow. “And hey. I’m sorry.”

Kazuaki shrugs. “I told you, you didn’t wake me.”
