(One of this week’s assignments was to write a Press Release on ourselves about something we are currently doing. I’ve personally never been good with writing these, but here is my attempt at writing my own press release!)
CREATIVITY WORKS SEASON SEVEN PRESS RELEASE
Aspiring author, Lynette Awojobi, commonly known as Lynobi has decided to take her first step into the literary world by compiling her first anthology of poems. The young poet had studied Creative and Professional Writing at the University of East London, graduating with a 2:1 degree in 2017.
Though she has won many award for her short stories since her youth, she felt shy and insecure about her talents. “I don’t know, I’m just really really shy when it comes to sharing my work,” she said in an interview. “I do have a blog where I have written over 800, going on 900 poems, but I haven’t told anyone I know.”
When asked what changed her mind, she said the following; “To be honest with you, I’m still really insecure about it. We’re gonna be judged not matter what we do. If I continue to let that rule my mind, I won’t do anything. I won’t be doing what I love to do. The Creativity Works course has inspired me a great deal, so I decided to just do it. I’ve got the themes and the name of the collection down. I’ll just say two things - experience and the black body.”
‘Experience’ and the ‘black body’ - two strong themes that are tied into her ongoing project which she hopes will be published either December or early January 2019. Her aim is to have a collection with at least 150 poems, each personal and reflective. Even though Lynobi has yet to reveal more about her project, her friends and family wait in anticipation.
One of her friends said; “She’s a serious bookworm, so it’s about time that she publishes something! She’s either reading a book or writing in her notebooks, but she never really shares them with anyone. It’s like I know but don’t know her, so this, for me, is great news!”
The name of her project has yet to be disclosed but Lynobi has promised that once her book is near completion, that it will be shared with everyone. Even so, nothing can take away from the fact that Lynobi has finally found the confidence and the will to take her first big step into the literary world, which will bring her closer to her dream of being an author.
