Last night, AnimEigo, the company that license-rescued Looking for the Full Moon (Full Moon O Sagashite), announced that they have FOUND the complete series dub. Yes, including episodes 28-52, which Viz never released and were believed to be either lost or nonexistent.
They're real, and these absolute legends FOUND THEM. They'll be released for the first time with volume 2! 🥹

Head's up -- MediaOCD (aka the new parent company of AnimEigo) is having a Black Friday sale from now until Dec 1st, 2025! Not only can you get 50% off in-stock titles with code "KUROFRIDAY25", but they have a bunch of out-of-print Discotek DVDs on mega-clearance! (For example: Goshogun: The Time Etranger for $5! Parts 1 & 2 of Marmalade Boy for $20 each! ALL of the original Cutie Honey for $25!)
As the entirely predictable enshittification of Crunchyroll continues, it's extremely encouraging to see Discotek partner up with MediaOCD to sell via their storefront as well.
For those unaware, Justin Sevakis of MediaOCD (a frequent collaborator with Discotek for their restoration projects) purchased AnimEigo to enter the boutique anime/Japanese live-action space, and they quickly established their own shop to sell from. I've been purchasing their releases as they've been coming, and I've been really pleased with both the product and packaging quality, including having the cardboard slipcovers packaged separately from the cases so they're in pristine condition for your shelf. Plus, they offer free shipping (within the US) for orders over $80, and the same prices as Crunchyroll (compared to Amazon's straight-up MSRP).
I would highly recommend purchasing any future Discotek releases (and their back catalog, as it (presumably) gets added) from MediaOCD, not only to avoid having to monetarily support Crunchyroll (or Amazon), but because doing so will likely enable both Discotek and AnimEigo to license more things that would otherwise fall through the cracks.
Home video, digital releases to remain available; Kickstarter releases to remain supported
AnimEigo was the first anime VHS I bought (Oh My Goddess). It's not the end of an era (Robert Woodhead is merely "transitioning slowly into retirement"), but it's the start of the end of an era. Glad to know it's in good hands with Justin Sevakis.
Bad news first: The first bluray set of Looking for the Full Moon (Full Moon O Sagashite) shipped with a critical error in episode 19 (after the opening, the audio is heavily desynced)
Good news: AnimEigo caught it before street date and have been working on getting fixed discs, and they already have a system in place to make sure everyone can get one. (Blog post with the info here)
If you ordered from MediaOCD or Robert’s Anime Corner Store, you’re already marked down for a replacement and you’ll get it sent to you automatically.
If you ordered from Crunchyroll, they were able to catch that shipment before it went out so they’re going to be delayed for a little while so they can get the fixed discs added in.
If you ordered from anywhere else, there’s a form right here at this link you can fill out to get on the list to be sent a replacement.
Please share this around, I’d hate for anyone to get a glitched disc and think there’s nothing they can do about it.

Our newest title – which has never gotten a proper release in the US, got leaked a few weeks ago. However, we're still very proud of it, and
News - Animeigo's parent company, MediaOCD, has announced the release date for their bluray release for Osamu Dezaki's Nobody's Boy Remi: May 11, 2025!
It was also announced that Animeigo will be doing another Town Hall livestream on February 10th, 2025, on their official Youtube channel. Which means I'll be doing another watch-along! I'll post more details when it's a little closer to the stream date.
Home video, digital releases to remain available; Kickstarter releases to remain supported
News - Justin Sevakis' production company, MediaOCD, has acquired anime label AnimEigo! According to their press release:
"AnimEigo's home video releases will continue to be available at retailers through MVD Entertainment Group, who will also continue distributing AnimEigo's digital releases. AnimEigo's current and future limited-edition crowdfunded releases will remain under the AnimEigo brand.
AnimEigo's digital storefront will continue to operate under new management, migrating to the MediaOCD website "in the coming months."
Husband and wife Robert Woodhead and Natsumi Ueki, who own and operate AnimEigo, will support MediaOCD during the transition process, with Woodhead saying that AnimEigo will help MediaOCD founder Justin Sevakis with the transition "over the next few years." In addition, Woodhead and Ueki will continue to manage current and future Kickstarter projects, ensuring all promised goods are delivered, and providing support for previous Kickstarter-funded releases for the forseeable future, including the recently ended Kickstarter campaign for The Super Dimension Fortress Macross II: Lovers, Again. Woodhead and Ueki plan to "slowly ease into retirement." "
